Hopefully soon there will be available aftermarket metal parts to replace those felt materials. this if you want offroading of course, for street run is ok even with that felt material.

Hi, I have some concerns about the new Dacia Duster. I haven't decided to order one yet. Your experience can help me decide. 1. Any disturbing noise or excessive vibration from the new 1.2 TCe engine different from the smooth 1.3 TCe? 2. Any lag or stalls between clutch and engine when changing gears? 3. Any downside of mild hybrid system when accelerating? 4. Any constant mechanical noise from the rear differential when cruising at constant speed such as 90 km/h? Thanks in advance.

No. It seems most of the cost of that car has gone to the electronics like cameras, tablet and other "beautiful graphics" for the comfort of the driver, but not on the really important places for off road

The brake oil in that place are soo unprotected, youll need bigger alluminium plates to protect everthing and kep it low in weight , off roading with that dacia it's out the question, not in that state, i really having second tought in buy this one for off road. Now i'm starting to udnerstand why the off road version will be 5000 euros or more

@@ragerblitz821 if you mean extreme version as an offroad version, than difference from Journey is in material that covers seats, modular roof rails and a nice copper coloured mirrors......... but Journey what is city version vs extreme, what is "offroad version" ... are the same price.

I will keep my fully protected 2019 150hp 4x4 red line Duster. Will see what will offer next year Bigster. Also will be waiting to see 2025 Suzuki Grand Vitara. I really had high hopes for new Duster but come on , cost cuttings and shortcuts are too many and thats not only for the belly. They add something good, like rear disk brakes but we also got no pipes protection, cloth for under belly and 40x40mm metal plate for engine protection....We all like ours reasonably prized Dusters but we're not a morons who can sell |sorry| that new shit, badged with a new look and logo. There are too many city 4x4 already!!!!

Wouldn't it be the easiest to just cover all these felt plates with a coat of resin - it will make it waterproof and stiff at the same time. Also - if one plans not to go offroading , should this type of coverage be considered as a deal breaker?

It is a deal breaker for offroading. As for the resin, I don’t know how stiff it would make the felt plates. They should protect the brake fluid pipes and the fuel pipes in case the car hits a rock.

Its my situation. Im gonna buy a car... I do not plant to go off-roading. just city and roads. but I want an SUV what means I want a 4x4 and be able to go off-roading IF chances comes. I really do like how dacia exterior looks, but I was sitting inside and driving it on test drive.... hell how cheap it all looks on inside and really uncomfortable... adding this on top, that they are basically planning to destroy my potentional chasis even going on roads (getting it wet and freeze and so on...) that I seriously am considering a Korando over Duster at same or even cheaper price.... . it does not look as good in exterior but compared to duster interior is pure luxury. and I can have 4x4 with automatic transmission that is also pretty damn capable at possible offroading. The only downside Korando has for me is that high consumption. like not damn high... 8,5-9 city, 8 roads, 10 highways... so yes, seeing this like this accumulating seems to be a pretty much deal breaker for me. looks like dacia is going way of apple.... making sure something breaks fast so stupid people will buy another very fast...

I​@@DusterCoolTravelsI see. Well just give it a try with resin - maybe get from somewhere a few samples of felt and try different resins. Nevertheless - resin and a fibreglass used to be used for creating stiff furniture with crazy shapes. Till this day resin combined with fiberglass fabric scraps is used as a water insulation in buildings (for ex. at roofs). I believe these felt plates would get hard and durable with a certain amount of resin. At the end of the day, if You plan on looking for some other protection and in the future, maybe You could save some money and who knows - maybe it will work out better than expected ;) Anyway - good luck! I'm currently planning on getting the hybrid version - but I guess I will still get this car - there is not much of a choice in this price range + I love how it looks ;)

This car is dangerous to drive off road. I can imagine a scenario going up on steep hill and having a rock breaking those completely unprotected brake fluid pipes. You will be a goner once you start rolling back. Not to mention that this felt underside can lit the whole car to fire. What where they thinking.

😂 it again confirmed that all new vehicles are made by accountants and not by engineers. The cardboard is cheap, sound deadening ,useless in wet and absolutely not protective in off-roading… 😢

I think I will hold my 2016 model. Didn't have problems on snow or wet clay roads. Even lots of fine dust didn't make problem, at least for now. 😊

Exactly. In theory that is the case. Less than 5 percent of the people buying a Duster go offroading medium or hard.

That is only about offroading... you get on basic road at winter... its salted and wet when its freezing... that carpet gets wet and freezes. now you get into rural are that is not snowplowed properly... even getting to your parking spot right in front of your house you have not been in for few days and some snow fell on it meanwhile and froze... what will happen to that frozen carpet when it hits pile of frozen snow? that carpet will hold wetness there for a long time... basically helping rust to happen. This car is planned to be trashed soon... and that is sad cause finally duster seems nice... but as showed its not finished..... and welp im buying car now.. not in 2 years. and finding this out... welp it will very likely influence if I will ever consider dacia as whole in the future.

well this was a surprise...and a sad one 😔....felt sheets underside ???? I honestly don't remember seeing that on any car ???? it will collect mud, water, get heavy and iced in winter, fall off for sure at certain situations......and that is supposed to protect brake piping ?????? it really looks like Duster 3 needs an immediate "belly lift" update ...but not by us ....by factory update instead.....as it looks now, it is just a semi product patched up for demo videos and car show rooms.....😪😡😭

Yes. There was a plastic plate over the fuel pipes ( but held it up very good, no problem with it in 5 years). And no felt fabric under the D2 Duster

Yes, it’s the thick coating you typically see under cars. It’s like a very thick and slightly flexible coating. It offers a very good protection against rust and scratches from impact. It should be available in spray bottles.

Man, I knew not to buy it when they scraped diesel engines. it was clear from then on that its gonna be a small size CITY SUV. 4x4 is useless and would rather get cheaper 4x2 then.

Just a 4x4 city car now. Even jogger had the rust treatment and the break lines were better protected. But that felt material is really good for sound insulation and small rocks won’t hit the underbelly which is provoking rust even on rust treated cars. But if time, effort and money are at hands, you can use those felt parts as stencils for the metal shielding. :)

​@@DusterCoolTravels unfortunately it looks they added some harmonic balancer to drive-shaft flange and that's it, internals are probably same (maybe friction discs will have better design but they have changed it over years and probably developed it to it's maximum potential), ABS is sharper more "inteligent" which could save some wear and tear on rear coupling but from my research when warning light starts flashing it only indicates that friction discs are expanding allowing for less slipping (ECU is only guessing temperature my diff has only 2 thin wires going into diff no temp sensor or anything else so it has to compare RPM's of each wheel when rear axle is getting more that 47% of power it knows coupling is heating up not allowing slipping in coupling) so if you overheat rear clutch you may not be able to switch into 2WD simply because there won't be enough space for clutch discs which will be forced together by heat expansion, so that would not bother me if I am offroading unless I need to turn around on hard surface.

Le parti morbide in teoria non sono un difetto , servono ad attutire il rumore dei sassolini che normalmente in uno sterrato sono proiettati verso il sottoscocca in prossimità delle ruote anteriori e salvano dal rumore che potrebbe essere molto fastidio e proteggono la scocca ammortizzando le pietre , ovviamente se si è bravi piloti in fuori strada ci si guarda bene dal raschiare il fondo della macchina e si dovrebbe evitare di colpire oggetti molto alti sugli angoli d'attacco , per questo esistono delle regole per una buona guida off-road senza per forza fare danni . Per tutto il resto esistono i i carri armati 😂 Se devo essere sincero non mi sembra malaccio per essere un auto abbordabile Bel servizio , l'ho trovato molto utile 🤜🤛

I think thats how most euro boxes look these days. I agree that better under body protection is need for serious off road use. I suppose after market suppliers will jump on the shortfall and produce better solid skid plating. One thing that annoys me is the lack of any paint or protection on the wheel hub assembly which are already red with rust. If i end up buying the Duster i will be coating them with decent black paint and then much Lanoguard.

Thank you for sharing this! It is annoying. The car industry seems to assume (or to know by the market analysis) that hardly anyone takes a car off-road but everyone needs heated steering wheels and other toys. If I could afford a new car right now, I would go for the old Duster 4x4 Diesel.

To bad for the deesign team .... they did a great job for the exterior & interior including functionality but here in Romania especially with the old DACIA'as where Renault made durable engine .. we always said that the engine will outlast the metal chassis & the statement is true .... but with the new generation and these 3 cylinder engines they will both go down at the same time.

On our Duster II 4x4 we have a sort of valve on the exhaust (close to engine) that sticks out and a sensor on the rear diff that sticks out. It is clear that both often get dragged when we offroad and the diff sensor now has an open wire which brings up a 4wd system issue when it gets wet (fixed this with vaseline which worked over a year now). At least it seems these issues were fixed on the new Duster. We often have a ground clearance issue when offroading in sand where the tracks are too deep and the bottom starts scraping on the sand. This is our only issue for getting across certain routes in Southern Africa. Maybe the felt can be covered with some fibreglass and also looks like it is not being tied down well enough in one or two places.

Don’t you have a skid plate for the valve? There are models that are fixed on the exhaust pipe. Best solution. I’ve used for 4 years on my previous duster and had no problems 💪
