Until after the third or the end Aldo was slowing down. So it's possible to out strike him. Poirier didn’t have a jab until late in his career. He used to overextend constantly with his right cross or hook and Conor for instance capitalized on that. He threw every punch with bad intentions back in the day when now he is composed and relaxed. Still think Holloway made more improvements so it’s gonna be hard to beat him again, but never say never.

Makes it even sweeter that he won the belt. Dude earned that shit the hardway. No offense to Max but he got fast tracked because he's a champ. Nothing wrong with it, but it is an easier way to get to the top. Dustin had to really prove himself. Imagine the look on his face and his family's faces when he got home, went over to his living room, and saw the empty shelf had been filled by Henry Cejudo's Gold Medal. You know, the one he won in the olympics? For freestyle wrestling. What an achievement.

2:48 I can tell you he was still doing those things for the Mcgregor fight. I remember seeing it in the Embedded leading up to it. I think he did it after Mcgregor as well. So Dustin says it’s been “years and years ago” isn’t really that true. He makes it sound like it’s been 7-10 years but it’s probably been 2-3 since he stopped a lot of it. Pretty sure he only stopped the specific type of gum superstition because they stopped making that flavor. So now he has a couple different flavors but it still has to be those same flavors in camp till this day.
@ChewbaccaOnDrugs11304 жыл бұрын
It probably feels so much longer ago for him. Regardless I think the point he was trying to make was just that he still has a routine for fight day but if it's not exact, it won't mess up his performance
@closinginonclosure4 жыл бұрын
@@ChewbaccaOnDrugs1130 True. Sometimes time can become slightly distorted and you feel it's been longer than it actually has. But yeah, I understand his point. And it's definitely a far stronger mindset to have. The whole idea of superstition creates room for doubt to seap in. Like if you don't have your lucky jock you won't fight well. I think Dustin was superstitious and ran into instances where he wasn't able to go through his usual routine, yet still preformed well. He started realizing that he didn't need those things and it's all in your head.
