When I use to preform, getting use to people talking, walking around, and not paying attention was hard. The ego gets slapped a bit. So years later when I started to sing in coffee houses, I finally got use to people being there but not necessarily to hear me. That was also hard because of the messages my music portrayed. It's a lesson in patients and tolerance, and believing in oneself but with humility. I use to say I was a vessel and the music was just being channeled through me. Because from never writing a song to having them flow out of me even in my dreams, practically over night made me feel that it wasn't me but something much more significant. Then it all went silent. So this is why I love all these young singer/songwriters. I recognize that energy in them....
