Those days I'm "unmotivated" I always feel better knowing I put in the miles. This ride looked fun. Thanks for sharing.

For me, on an off day - I embrace the journey. Sometimes it's about stopping for an extra break or two, or treating yourself to an extra pastry... or just taking the road less traveled. You'll never regret it when you get home, but you will also learn to love the better rides, and respect the variety of experiences two wheels bring!

DK! nice one mate. reading the comments, we have all been there. lots of good advice here. it's true that you never regret a ride when it's over. on those days, i usually just turn off the garmin, take a ramblin' route without much climbing, factor in a lot of coffee and food stops along the way, and take the pace way down. sometimes, before i know it, i have been out for 3 or 4 hours and life is beautiful.

When I'm feeling unmotivated, I just wait until I'm so restless that I HAVE to go out, which is usually at night in the pouring rain. Loved all the random bits in this video

That's what a good riding bud and good riding crew are for - support and laughs and keeping with you to make it fun - helping you find the happy place, even if it's at a slow pace. After all, we mostly ride bikes to have fun - fitness etc. is just icing on the cake.

Definitely sympathize with the fact that on some days, you just don't got it. Sometimes it's not even type 2 fun after the fact. Happens to me more often as I've gotten older. Cold weather and sleep deprivation certainly don't help. Can't imagine doing a 58 miler with that mindset so kudos to you for pushing through. Hopefully it's a fleeting feeling and tomorrow's another day.

If I'm riding with a group and having a bad day still, even after you ride long enough to get rid of regular blahs or hesitation then I know I need to do something else. That's the time to change the regular behavior and go exploring with your lady and your dog, or maybe go skiing in another state or something you don't do a lot of. It has to trigger that little "new experience bell" just a little. Do I do this every time?....NOoooo I get on the bad behavior train half the time even though I kind of know better. But eventually I get the reset I need to do what I truly love. Hope you do too sooner than later, but it'll come back cause it's in there deep.

Yep. Can relate to that. Have on occasions just peeled off and said goodbye to the group. Just accept when it ain’t happening. However on occasions have dug in and kept pushing....all of a sudden,I am in it and firing on all cylinders. So would conclude the key is knowing when you are just going through a bad spot..and when ,for whatever reason you may as well just go home! Have to say though,in all the many years of all types of bike riding, however much I sometimes just don’t feel motivated,I NEVER get home and wish I hadn’t gone out...probably just no sense to be made of it. But then ,in a world where common sense has been forgotten,,,what can possibly go wrong😬

You should definitely rub special twigs on your ears if you are unmotivated. No idea what it would do but you should do it anyway :D When I feel like that I just take it easy. Sometimes it comes to you, which is great. Sometimes it just doesn't and you have to knock it on the head and head home. Although going to get a beer and a burrito is also a great option.
