The locked dressing room story at the end is from "The Making of the Wizard of Oz" and it makes no sense. There was a big fuss made when the dressing room, wrapped in a big bow, was wheeled in, with Munchkins, extras, stunt doubles, etc. gathered around to see Judy cut the ribbon to open her gift. After doing that, don't you think Judy would have opened the door of it, or tried to? Judy would tell a very similar victimhood story 27 years later on The Gypsy Rose Lee Show. She had been fired from MGM so quickly she didn't have time to gather her possessions. She went back later and the guard at the gate wouldn't let her in her dressing room.

ME AND MY SHADOWS is still the most iconic!!! Both Judy Davis and Tammy Blanchard really had strong resemblances to Judy Garland throughout the multiple eras of her career. Breaks my heart what the industry did to her.

Thank you for bringing up Jinx's drag performance of Judy. Thanks to that, ill never say "sandwich" the same way again.

Oh, I loved that, though it wasn't a memorable role, you mentioned fabulous Rue McClanahan ⭐💛, on "Rainbow". My timeline is full with Rue McClanahan ⭐💛 and great Judy Garland 💞.. I've seen "Rainbow" and "Me and my Shadows".. I liked them. I haven't seen "Judy" , nor any work of Renee, I don't doubt she's a good actress, and, maybe sings ok, BUT I don't like the idea of her singing Judy's songs. In my opinion, no one should attempt to do It, much less "pretend"being her and actually sing as Judy!!!. Thanks for your vídeo.. 💜🌿

This was interesting AND can tell well researched. I did want to point out that the 1978 film RAINBOW does in fact bring up Frank Gumm's "issues" in at least two places, a scene when he is on the phone in the projection booth AND an argument with Ethel Gumm where she mentions it. I have always felt the 2019 film JUDY has done Garland a great injustice and disservice with so many mistakes out right untruths.

You are very correct, and thank you for pointing out the mentions in Rainbow. Judy (2019) is such an idealized version of her story that, while not quite parody, is just too clean.

So much of JUDY is just not true and did not happen. Luft never visited her in London. He live in a small apartment in Westwood not that large house. She did not meet Deans at a party. He went with her to London in December of 1968 NOT showed up later and on and on and on......@@DustinReckling

Excuse me, but Lorna Luft did not narrate Me and My Shadows: Life with Judy Garland. Narration was done by Cynthia Gibb.

WHEN JUDY SANG A SONG, SHE HAD YOU IN THE PALM OF HER HAND. GAY MEN WENT NUTS FOR HER, MEN AND WOWEN MARVELED AT HER POWERFUL GIFT. .SHE COULD TAKE AN AUDIENCE ON A HOLIDAY, ON A MOUNTAIN CLIMB ON A FRIGHTENING WALK TO A CERTAIN DEATH. AND HOLDING OUR BREATH, HEARING HER FINAL SOARING NOTE, WE ARE ALOWED TO BREATH AGAIN IN A JOYOUS, COLLECTIVE BURST OF ENERGY. WHEN SHE WAS ON, IT WAS ELECTRIC. WHEN SHE WAS OFF IT WAS UNFATHOMABLE SADNESS. WE WANTED HER TO OVERCOME ONE MORE TIME. THERE FINALLY IS NO ONE MORE TIME, BUT SHE TRANSCENDS TIME AS THE GREATEST PERFOMER OF ALL TIME.

Dustin: Brilliant! I've seen "Rainbow" & "Me & My Shadows" and REFUSE, as a Garland fan, to ever see RZ in "JUDY". The extended trailer made me vomit. I will never see "JUDY" because it purposeful desecrates her as an artist and human being, and reduces her to her lowest ebb. The clips you show here confirm that. At least "ME & MY SHADOWS" gets it ALL in, the HIGHS & the lows, and gives Judy the epic, but humane, treatment she deserves. "JUDY" does not do this, as the intention of the play and film always was to desecrate and reduce Judy, while the actresses get to grab awards. As noted, Lorna did do the narration for "Shadows" in its early "work print", and was the executive producer and author. For some reason, in the final film, Lorna's narration was replaced by Cynthia Gibb. Your work here is SUPERB. BRAVO!!

Judy Davis and Blanchard nailed it. Zellweger is a fine actress, but neither looked nor sounded anything ... anything ... like Judy Garland.

The film Judy is a mockery of the real Judy Garland. It’s mostly not true. Most of it didn’t happen and is as fictional as Dorothy Gale herself. I refuse to acknowledge it as canon.
