I just tried doing this hairstyle on myself and I had many trials and errors. I found that if you only grab hair from the front, the braid seems to form better. If you have a tough time doing it on yourself and the braid isn't forming try pulling hair from only the front. I love the video by the way! (:

I do this for figure skating practice (some girls at my school do it for cheer and dance too) but I only take hair from one side for the braid, so its one-sided, and then put it into a ponytail or bun, and then after early morning practice I can take my ponytail down and wear it to school!
