Calvin.....the Afrikaner boer people love potjie.We have a lot of Dutch blood in our veins...potjie is like stew except better because its cooked in layers...first onions and brazing the meat to seal in flavours.....things like mushrooms would be added towards the end due to short cooking time . 10 minutes before the end the potjie gets a big stir..nothing gets burned because the emphasis is always on Slowwwww.. Psssst !.....the classified secret weapon which compliments most potjies? A good quality tin of Baked Beans in tomato sauce ! The potjie pot has a different shape to the Oven...and has 3 legs and we prefer to bake "pot brood" in the oven. We do game potjies like Springbok....Kudu and Gemsbok.....the potjie and Oven are so damn versatile!

Man that looks good. I was just over at my mom's house this past weekend going through all my grandfather's cast iron she inherited. I spent most of the day cleaning them up and re-seasoning them due to them rusting after sitting for so long in his shed. She did come off a couple skillets that I am pretty excited about cooking with. Found your video because I was interested in getting a dutch oven after building a fire pit at my house. I really hope you make some more videos with recipes to give us newbies some ideas.

The water I added and the water in the veggies keeps it from burning naturally. Just remember to turn the pot one direction a quarter turn and the lid the other direction a quarter turn every 15 minutes so you don’t get any hot spots and burn anything. You need a Brazilian wood grill correction an Argentina parrilla grill . You build the fire on left side and it has a coal table with a rack to grill on or you can Dutch oven cook on it you can prob make one

@CalvinsCorner72 Great surface area on the table, and with a fire like that, saving fuel doesnt much matter. Dutch ovens are great for camping too, so staking ovens is good for conserving fuel.

I really enjoyed your video. I was asked yesterday why do you want to cook outside when you have a stove in your kitchen. It makes me want to start an outdoor cooking show as well. I love cooking with my Dutch oven and grill. I too live in the beautiful state of Georgia.
