I bought a chameleon 3 years ago. Most comfortable thing ever. Can only imagine how great it will be knowing now that it needs to be tied to trees.

I was shocked too. I had been using it as an awkward but silky blanket. Zippers chafed if you didn't fold it right. Kept all the snakes in though.

I’ve been using my chameleon, with beetle buckles, and bug net with side car on my AT thru hike. I’ll be crossing the Vermont border soon and have no complaints.

So can the Chameleon double layer be used with a sleeping pad only, without an UQ - or is that just additional insulation? Any limitations, what type of pads fit? What about inflatable ones like the TaR X-Lite? Mummy? Large? rectangle? Thanks!
@dutch33237 ай бұрын
Yes, you can use it with a camp pad only, but the temp rating must still be sufficient for the conditions. There is a limited amount of warmth from a double layer-not more than 10 degrees F. Most camp pads fit as long as they are not wider than the hammock.

New Chameleon owner! Are my elastic tieouts supposed to attach to the hammock at 2 points along each side or just one point on each side?
@dutch33237 ай бұрын
One point on each side. One for the head end and one for the foot end.
@wstewart55327 ай бұрын
@@dutch3323 I asked because my tieouts have the same clip at each end which seem to clip onto a d-ring. So one end will go around a stake and the clip fits back over the elastic for a stake loop, right?
@davebsn Жыл бұрын
When you staked out the side of the hammock it looked like you just had one line. Towards the end, I noticed two lines from the hammock to a stake. Is that one line looped out and back, or two lines to one stake? Any reason to do that? Love my chameleon! Still looking for tweaks and mods!

Asym is a half oz lighter but you need to take it off and flip it to sleep on the opposite diagonal. This explains it kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqTVhWN5l9iZd9U

Why did you not include the multitude of four letter words that are generally involved with getting that bug net zipper started? LOL. One thing I always do, too, is take all my other stuff sacks (underquilt, top quilt, strap bag, tarp bag etc) and put them in the hammock’s double ended stuff sack just to keep them all together.

I'd love one of these chameleon hammocks but by the time you add the bug net and double layer it, it's just to exspensive especially if you live outside of the usa, the import taxes and vat just makes it a rich mans hammock, I bought a hennesy and I'm over the moon with it and it's alot cheaper as hennesy has a European online shop, maybe dutchware should do the same as you losing alot of money by not having a European online store, good thing about the hennesy asymmetrical is its alot easier and faster to set up as the bug net is already attached and part of the hammock and double layered at no extra costs

I’ve had a chameleon for over 2 years and not used it once. I want a hands on demo on setting the thing up. Wouldn’t it make sense for hammock manufactures to have demo days where they show off all the innovations they have and the ease of setting up a hammock?

do you want them to hold your hand when you walk into the woods for the first time too?
