Black magic! Seriously, this is one of the best explanations I’ve seen of this technic. Thanks for posting.

I can visualize what you’re doing by getting the tree to dip in one direction and then using the rebound while finishing the cut

Once you’ve learned how to use this method it’s a good tool to use great video Mitch!

So how do you keep your bar from getting pinched when you cut the Dutchman great video
@mitchzenobitrees5 ай бұрын
Carefully if the tree has significant lean. But if the lean isn't too bad it's not much of a worry...unless you over cut it. Once the concept is understood, there's a lot of feel that goes into it as you're cutting into the tree.

Hey Mitch, just to clarify, you're cutting the dutchman in when you make your first face cut? You're drifting your bar through the wood at that point, rather than cutting the dutchman as you begin your backcut? Hope that makes sense, great vid!

Also to follow up, would this be for when a tree is leaning heavily enough that the tree won't go in the direction of your face cut? For example in this clip, what would've happened if you had just aimed your face cut more towards where you wanted the tree to eventually end up instead of using a dutchman? I'm trying to learn why to use X vs Y in each situation. Thanks again!

Always been curious as to those woolly gloves you guys wear in the states , is there a specific reason behind them ?
@mitchzenobitrees5 ай бұрын
They're cotton made by Kinco. They prevent blisters.

🤔 I don't get it. Can I just come up there and you can show me in person? 😄

I second this Mitch, us residential tree guys don't get enough opportunity to have full confidence in the dutchman alone. Even when I am feeling froggy enough to swing with the dutchman I always add the trusty sizzy for extra insurance. Let us come play in the woods for a day, Tim says he will carry your saw 😆
