Amazing rendering of this exciting score, which "flirts" with the form of the concerto grosso. The conductor, the soloists and the orchestra are excellent. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Beautiful. I have this on CD with this orchestra but I think I like this performance more

Perhaps the most intense music I have ever heard. There is no match to Duttileux. This Symphony is pure magic! And this is a particularly good recording

Amazing, concentrated performance. The way that mystical G dominant 4-3 chord serves as the anchor for the latter stages of the work -- is spectacular.
@gerardbegni2806 Жыл бұрын
Dutilleux changed the lest chord - initially a c# major chord into a more complexa non-triadic chord.

@24:29 - and onwards, isn't that a quotation from Stravinsky's Firebird? Dutilleux was a huge fan of Stravinsky, and quoted other composers a lot.

That part sounds nothing like anything from The Firebird
@oscarridout824 жыл бұрын
I've always thought that! I don't think it's something I've seen remarked on by anyone other than myself before ... Especially the horn entry.

The final 7 minutes of this work, from the Firebird quote to the end is perhaps some of the most intense music I have ever heard. Duttileux has no match, his exquisite employment of color and harmony and his management of form. Utterly magical music.
