An un-boxing and a quick little boil test video. I had seen induction cook tops years ago when I was in Asia and had always liked cooking with gas so I dismissed them. Induction cooking has been around since the1970s when Westinghouse introduced their cool top ranges. They were to over priced to catch on $1500 in the 70s. After seeing that many of the million dollar motor homes are now using them instead of propane. I read that even some of the top chefs are using them in their restaurants.
It was time to re-look at them.
I have to admit I was wrong to dismiss them, As long as you have a 110V electric power source these are good to go.Nice fast even heat. If you are living in a dorm that allows hot plates this is what you should be buying you can get a single for less than $100.
just a follow up: There is one thing you have to be careful about. If you are using large pan that gets too close to the edge this may happen to yours too.

The plastic the use for the body deformed when the heat from the pans base radiated outwards to the edge of the hot plate. the plastic base can't take the heat. So for me its out of the kitchen, to be replaced with a more expensive one that has a stainless steel body. That way I can still use my large pans without a worry.
