You can book a single reservation between two use years. I did this in Sept-October for the 50th. We have an Oct UY. Member services had to manually manage the reservation past Oct 1 but it was possible to do.

We’ve been members since 2008 and mostly had pretty straight-forward stays but every now and then do run into some of these scenarios (and the rules do change periodically) so this was super helpful, especially for those of us who are more familiar with the basics already!! We’ve done up to 16 days at one resort and 4 in another on the same trip. The room switch can be annoying if the resorts are far apart, but we went from Boardwalk to the Beach Club…real easy. It may have helped that we had friends over at the Beach Club, but I think not. DVC, and Disney Resorts as a whole, have always done right by us. Looking forward to continuing this partnership through 2041…or further.

The 11 month and 6 months booking windows are hinging on the, use year calendars. Which are not linear calendars. Because you can book a DVC Villa one year out. So it gives the opportunity for non-owners a one-month window to book a DvC Villa

I used to work at Fort Wilderness (a long time ago) and there was one couple who essentially lived there. They stayed 364 nights a year, checked out one night a year and checked back in. I don’t know if the rules are different for “cash” stays or if that was just what was universally allowed in the dinosaur times when I was a cast member but I found it so both crazy and cool.

Love the particulars we don't normally notice! Here's something I keep wondering -kind of sparked again by the *mutiny* talk here😂...do they ever really address concerns/complaints by DVC owners at the meetings? When Paul mentioned the tree view (not the theme park view) from some of Grand Flo's rooms, I wonder if they'd address the tree growth at large. I rented points for a lake view at Copper Creek last year and it was 90% obscured by trees. Obviously they continue to just grow taller and I feel like the points at many resorts will remain high because of where they face, but you can't actually SEE! I'm just talking topping some of them-not uprooting them or anything! The top of the castle may be a fireworks view, but calling it "theme park view" is a little deceiving.

If I have a wait-list and and I ✔️ the 7 day option and that replaces a reservation, would any points returned to me because the wait listed resort uses less points than the original will those points go into "holding"?

Great show as always! I have a December Use Year. I feel I understand it but, from time to time I get confused. Would love to see a DVC Fan show dedicated to the ins and outs of having a December Use Year. For example, since the December UY, as you mentioned Paul, you are always a year behind. So, what will happen to my points the very last year that my contract expires? Thanks!

I don’t know if the same rules apply, when I worked at a hotel in the reservation department, we had to have a different tax rate for stays over 30 days. It was basically like you were paying month to month for an apartment. At the time it was like 1.5%, whereas the taxes on a nightly rate are more like 9 to 10% or more.

As a non local member who has had difficulty booking full stays at the same resort when there are one off events that will cause a single day to sell out, I can understand the concept of possibly making a short "multi night stay" priority booking window. I know it's not a perfect scenario, and would certainly not be ideal for you guys now as locals, but as former "members from afar" I'm sure you can empathize with my thought process. Great show!

Hi Amy.....those dreams so not go away. I left teaching 11 years ago and I still dream that it is May and I have not documented any plans in my files and I have not entered any information about students in my files. It is very unsettling and waking up is a relief.

Can you book the holding points balance in the 60 day window and then cancel that reservation and get a new 60 day window?

The 60 day window is always rolling so that won’t be necessary. As each day passes, a new day enters your 60 day window. Your points will expire at the end of the Use Year regardless.

11 months is industry standard, you can't book flights past 11 months out, or you can't book either any other hotels typically

I am very confused about the not being able to book more than 7 nights at a time at the 11 month mark rule. I own at RIV and I have a 9 night stay in a standard view 2 bedroom lock-off coming up in December. When my 11 month booking window opened I was able to book all 9 nights at that time. That is a very hard room to book and it would have been devastating to have to try and book that reservation at 2 different times. But I was definitely able to book all 9 nights right when the booking window opened.

You should only be able to book 7 at the 11 month window. You’ll see that rule here under the first box: disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/vacation-planning/how-to-book Maybe a happy accident for you/good glitch? Regardless, it’s not an issue to only be able to book 7 at a time, if you need two extra nights you just add them on as the window opens up. No one can take those days from you since you have the 11 months window booked. As long as you add those dates as they open they are still outside the 11 month window so it’s just a quick and easy modify to add them. -Amy

If a room has a stated capacity (e.g, “up to 4” for a one bedroom villa) , can you bring more guests than the sleeping capacity and bring an air mattress for the extra guest(s) to sleep on? Or is this strictly against the rules? Asking because I’ve seen multiple people say that they do that often but that doesn’t sound right to my rule-following brain.

How does use year impact transferring points between your own contracts if they sre different use year? Also how is booking window impacted? If I transfer points from my AK contract to Poly for example and want to book poly at the 11 month window for example? Also can you transfer banked points between contracts?

What do we know about how dvc releases inventory. We have a contract with Disneyland Tower and over the past year I’ve only seen 1 night ever available for one of the grand villas (not that we would stay there, but it was certainly a selling point) and I check constantly now at the 11 month just to see. Booking 12 months could cause some confusion with the current year and ppl staying on the same date. Especially when you think about booking past the window because it’s one week. Disney never has the best technical systems

Curious about the rule mentioned about not being able to have a single booking that crosses your use year because our UY is October and we have a single reservation we were able to make from 9/25-10/2. Im wondering if I should call MS and double check or am I misunderstanding the message here?

Member Services should be able to assist you. You normally can’t make a reservation crossing use years on your own since it’s two different buckets of points. Member Services can usually help. I would double check with them to ensure you booking is okay.
