I love snapcase DVDs. I look for them specifically if I know that the movie has a snapcase release. I also go after big jewel box DVDs. It's so hard to find them in excellent condition, so that makes it more fun for me. Another type of DVD that I started looking for is the Superbit releases. Finding these things intact and in good condition is a big part of the nostalgia. Plus, I love watching them the way I originally watched them with my friends. That's why I still have almost all of the VHS tapes that I bought since the 80s. BTW, I LOVE Excalibur. When I saw that spine in the stack, I immediately thought I'll have to start looking for it. Great video, man. I always enjoy your content.

This is a timely video for me. I recently started collecting THE SHIT outta snap case dvds. Mostly I’ve been going after 80’s titles. Found a lot of harder to find ones for cheap like The Terminator and T2. There aren’t a lot of other distributors that did the snap case but Image Entertainment did quite a lot for companies like Universal, Orion and others. I think a throwback snap case edition would be fun for a 4k release, if they’d make it the same length as blu-ray cases. I actually had that thought myself. I hope someone does it 😂 Would be quite the undertaking though

Never get sick of Grind. Such a comfort movie. Hard to believe that it came out over 20 years ago. Smh. I would love for it to get a Blu-ray release.just something slightly better.doesnt seem likely unless a boutique label randomly puts it out. Fingers crossed 🤞🛹

Love snap cases , I probably have as many Wb snap cases as you . The art work is great on them . Mine are all still pristine due to the way they clip together when in bookcase 👌👌👌

These DVDs in snap cases were something special, they looked better in the collection if you ask me with the original cover motif, which is why I still buy DVDs today. It's a shame that this packaging was not continued with the Blu-ray.

Hey me not forking out over £100 for the new 4k collectors edition of Neverending Story, i just acquired it on DVD cos i like it, costs less than £3.50, last year i bought Enter the Dragon on DVD snapcase original artwork, and it played great on my ub 9000 Panasonic !

I spent years waiting for affordable and well preserved snap cases dvds of the batman quadrilogy until I eventually found them on ebay. It sparkled a new interest in this packaging. Blade Runner, The Matrix, Heat, Seven shortly followed them.

I’ve been looking for Deconstructing Harry on physical media and have to settle for the dvd version since there is no blu ray release and it’s this snap case version so I’ll have one myself soon 😅

@ you should check it out! It’s streaming for free. It’s about a writer going to accept an award and it inter cuts with scenes from his writings and then he also interacts with the fictional characters. There’s a Robin Williams scene where he is literally out of focus. It’s great lol.

I don't have many snapcases, but when I was consolidating, not getting rid of my movies, but transferring them into sleeves to save space, that's not something I can really do with a snapcase, so those are the few DVDs I still have in their original packaging.

you kinda can. you can take the art off the snap case, they unsnap in the back to take the art off

They are thinner than typical DVD cases, so I'm not that hard pressed at the moment, but if it gets up there, I may have to do it. My space is limited, and after transferring my DVDs into sleeves, I can fit 100 movies, some of which have two discs into the same space as 18 standard DVD cases.

I have the Interview with the Vampire and it was one of those that suffered from the disc rot and will only play so far into it, so I upgraded to the blu ray.

Brian i have Never ending story coming on DVD Snapcase, never did buy it like quite a few others, acquired last man standing stars Bruce Willis, already have the original dvd of Dirty Harry, have 3 of the lethal weapon dvds at varios stages of being in my possession, but cannot find Lethal Weapon 3, but found Demolition Man annd ordered it, great video , keep it up, left you some comments earlier to recent posts you did. Wednesday lunchtime, Ordered Never Ending Story 2 on DVD From Rarewaves,be here Next week, it's a bit scarce,so I got the best price at over £8!

Interesting snap case were so shortly made.. I only have 2 snap case DVDs. Maverick and Little Shop of Horrors. About 2 months ago. Had to upgrade Little Shop of Horrors to Blu ray. The DVD audio started having popping noises during a few songs. But decided to keep the DVD for the unique package (snap case), also the DVD menu was cooler than the Blu ray menu.

3000 miles to Graceland has 3 different media books...the artwork on your copy of 2001 is from the original paper back...Hudsucker Proxy was originally snap case...have you seen Nekrotronic?

The original blu-ray cases did have a snap case that sucked worse than the DVD ones. I specifically remember the Spider-Man 3 blu ray case having the snap feature that was part of the PS3 bundle.

there is something on wiki about it, WB has a deal with the company what made then & I think they were more expenses to produce than the regular keep cases so WB stopped & that company went out of business.

I have one movie where somebody at snapper case in normal keepcase: Eraser. 1996 movie (same year as Mission Impossible) Directed by directer of The Mask. Where Arnold looks a bit like Terminator again. People talking years about True Lies should get BD release and finaly very present get one, but ERASER is another movie with Arnold who never get Dutch Bluray release. Only extra on the dvd is a trailer (Besides the English Filminfo/bio from 5 cast members & directer and movie sugestion list) and thanks to back of front cover a chapterlist.

Interesting Video, i have The Matrix( upgraded to 4k steelbook manta lab) Under Seige ( still waiting for the 4k! ) The Exorcist , just cannot get rid of it,( Have this on 4k/ steelbook from hmv blue ) i have not got Bruce Willis in last man standing, should hunt it down ? Sorry Brian forgot i have Superman 1, 2 and 3 on dvd, bought same time when WBreissued superman and its sequel on 4k, was only about £3!!!

I sleeve most of my collection in Tarifold sleeves and this packaging style does not fit in those so I actively avoid them. I've seen this style used for IMAX documentaries a lot too and have been bummed to have to leave those behind.

I don't like snap cases. The get dents, the can get stained etc etc. ... and you can't replace the case like a regular DVD case..

Don't buy never opened snap cases...unless you're never going to open it..the glue on the security sticker is so old that if you do open it, it will really damage the artwork.
