A little over a year before he passed away. I mailed Wes a fan letter along with my novel of “New Nightmare” Asking him to sign it for me. About 2 weeks later I got a package from him. He had signed my book as well as an autographed photo of him. And a stationary note thanking me for my letter. I asked for one autograph. But he gave me 3. I have them framed. Such a wonderful man.

I remember the first time I saw Wes in an interview and was taken aback by how smart, articulate, and mild mannered he was. Indeed, he said on several occasions that people expected him to be like Charles Manson instead of the person that he was.

One of the best things about watching Cravens films is, even when the overall quality of the movies themselves may not have been amazing, they were very deep in filmic language and psychological logic. Every beat feels thought out and structured in a really good way
