A little over a year before he passed away. I mailed Wes a fan letter along with my novel of “New Nightmare” Asking him to sign it for me. About 2 weeks later I got a package from him. He had signed my book as well as an autographed photo of him. And a stationary note thanking me for my letter. I asked for one autograph. But he gave me 3. I have them framed. Such a wonderful man.

I remember the first time I saw Wes in an interview and was taken aback by how smart, articulate, and mild mannered he was. Indeed, he said on several occasions that people expected him to be like Charles Manson instead of the person that he was.

One of the best things about watching Cravens films is, even when the overall quality of the movies themselves may not have been amazing, they were very deep in filmic language and psychological logic. Every beat feels thought out and structured in a really good way

The Hills Have Eyes- One of the most terrifying films I’ve ever seen A Nightmare on Elm Street- One of the most visually creative and pure films I’ve ever seen New Nightmare- Another of the most visually creative. One of the best ‘sequels’. My Soul to Take- One of the most interesting films I’ve ever seen. I love Wes Craven and hope to see the rest of his films soon!
