That is one beautifully sounding snare drum. It sounds like you are getting a nice fat tone without hearing any of the high tint sound. Even when you play that lightly I can hear the depth to that drum. You are really fortunate to have such a nice drum set. Good luck with heads~ Rob/Boston

I just got mine it's an incredible drum, I put an emperor x on the batter and ambassador snare side on the resonant head. You can also use a regular ambassador 14 clear on the bottom as they're stronger than snare side and you can tune higher and will give the drum a pop sound, also used puresound custom pro steel snare wires on mine and the crack was awesome! Plus the three position butt plate is killer too. Happy drumming dude!

DW drums are a thing of beauty man, nice one! I didn't know you played drums, we need to get a VC band going or something! ;)

This is a beautiful sounding DW drum. 6.5 X 14 snare drums are awesome. The snares sound too loose though. I would tighten the snares to the resonant side of the head enough to where the sound of the snares is right. I don't choke the snares on my snare drum. Anyway, cool video Ade!

Like the DW, the Pearl Reference also has a 3mm Shell. The Pearl is very slightly cheaper than the DW. As for being "better", there's is no difference whatsoever!

the reference is like $960 man. I wish it was cheaper than the DW lol
