You've made a good decision. I've been playing my DW Design kit for a couple of years now. It's the best kit I have ever owned and that includes the DW Collectors kit that I had previously.

They shipped him a Demo Kit. Hence, the Yamaha repackage, assembled heads on the bass drum (Design Series ships with the heads unassembled on their Bass drums).

Can u see the wood grain on it?? I've seen some pics on line of that exact same series and finish. And some show the wood grain and some don't. Don't know if they updated them or downgraded their quality

i have a pdp concept series and I would like to upgrade but I want to get the best for what I pay. Is this set significantly better than the pdp concept series or should I just go for a different set in that pricepoint?

+dsshdrumming2christ - It's difficult for me to comment on this as I have never played a pdp concept kit. I think the DW Design is great value for money but whether it's worth the upgrade would probably be better answered by others that have more experience with pdp kits. I'd check out the drum forums for more information.

Their the exact same maple shells just different hardware, lugs etc.. Believe it or not Tama uses the maple shells for the Superstar drums

I can answer if you like the punchy attack and thin shell sound of the concept , you might not like the design it's a deeper tubby thick shell and much louder and bigger sound but if you don't really love the sound and feel of the pdp, you must favor a bigger and booming sounding drum and in which you'll like , so basically if your in love with the pdp , I wouldn't buy the dW, but if you find yourself wishing the pdp drums sounded deeper or your a very heavy hitter then I would get the design if you can tell me what kit felt the best I can give you some good advice

Probably original boxes are soaked from the rain or just they throw out them after first unboxing cause take up space in the warehouse.

The Tama Superstar kit I purchased in the 80s was packed better than these. I'm kinda surprised DW doesn't package their drums any better especially when you're paying a fortune for the damn things. Beautiful drums.
