I've listened to thousands and thousands of drummers online. You are a rare find. You sound original, (that's rare and hard to find these days), your skilled, I love your phrasing, I like the way you tune your drums, you have nice fluid motion, and I will be stealing all your licks

If you’re like me you watch more KZbin than TV besides all the usual services lite Netflix etc. I have to say that’s one of the most amazing comments I’ve ever received, not sure I have any licks though 🤣🤣😂😂

Not sure why there is so much reverb, maybe it's just the room. Would like to hear it clean.

This thing has some punch to it. Seems like that drum you bring in on certain fills to just make the house shake and go wild.

Matthew Parsons It really does, for its size it has so much bottom end it's incredible.

I'd like one of these for use as a bass drum where there's no room for a regular drumset. Then I could get more work!

I m In dilema. Room size is constraint. Do u think it good ad bass drum with pedal?

They make a conversion kit for these for that exact reason.

I played this through my headphones at first and couldn’t pick out the really low end. However when I ran it through my home theater it shook the house!!! I’ve got a 22" Tama Gong Bass and I love that drum!! But to get the full benefits, like yours, proper miking is paramount. The DW Gong Drum doesn’t have the acoustical sustain like the Tama but it just has a great ballsy low end.

I played this particular video through my home theater so I could get a really good idea of the resonance and attack from these DW pancake drums I’ve been seeing lately. So I went to a local DW dealer in Raleigh NC to check them out in person because I wanted something to replace my Tama GBD. Getting that one drum refinished every time I get a new kit has become extremely costly. I really wanted to be blow away by it but after my stick made contact with the drum head I was sorely disappointed. I tried different heads and different tuning and I just wasn’t able to achieve the results that I wanted. It was a great drum. DW craftsmanship is off the scale no doubt. For me the pancake drums simply don’t have the tonality or attack that my 80’s era 22" Tama Gong Bass Drum has. The sound from that 24" oversized head on a 20" shell with tympani style lugs creates an unmatched tonal expression. I don’t know what DW was or is trying to do with this particular drum but it’s basically all attack and no tonality but that’s just my personal opinion. That said, thanks again for posting yet another informative video. Your charm and whit are definitely the best 😊

It sounds brilliant mic'd up, last gig I used it on had 10 18" subs and it shook the stage whenever I hit it.....so I hit it A LOT!

A typical gong drum is 20x16. Wonderful video!
@IAMDRUMMER6 жыл бұрын
sventek97 Yeah most companies do the 20x16 which is sort of the universal size, DW offer the 21 and 23 sizes....always nice to have those extra inches 😂

it sounds good but i wish i would have used a higher end birch drum. like a recording custom. but i like it. i use pdp kit i can only afford mid priced kits or add ons. i love your dw with 22by 20 kick thats my dream kit. even 10 13 toms kool kit man . happy drumming. i like all your videos and kits. im thinking of getting a design series acrylic on payments . i wore out my concept maple pdp.
