These are two of the best limb independence capable drummers I know of. They are also some of the most generous musicians, who freely share their skills and technique with drummers of all levels. Hearing you playing together, it's such a pleasure to see and hear the syncopation between you guys.

Thank you Virgil for your tireless efforts including putting together these videos of your travels! Always look forward to these. The synthaxe solos from Allan were an overwhelming surprise.

VIRGIL ! Thank you for the upload ! :D So happy to hear The Sphere in it's entirety ! Can't wait for the IceFish music video as well !

What captivates me is the fact that Virgil Donati is not simply playing drum but recitate mantras by playing drums, he seems in a state of transe. A higher level monk drummer!

Show. I had the pleasure of being able to see Virgil Donati in the south of Brazil, in my city Bento Gonçalves - Rio Grande do Sul. And still have the autograph on my shirts! These guys are awesome! Tank you Virgil!

Two drummers that Dream Theater did not deserve! Players like this need to be unchained and left to do what they wish. Their talents are too great to be hindered by anything too concrete

the one who have shaked them whith the one who whas shaked by them...excellent! thank you Virgil and well done Thomas;) You have your revenge on the Floating DT!

This is awesome..too bad you can't hear Thomas's kick drums at all..must have not been mixed well that night. Hope they do this show again soon!
@crimsun71866 жыл бұрын
Bass drums over 22" (Thomas is using 24"x18" ones) are hard to mix properly, especially when you have two of them. Virgil's choice of going with a single 20" makes his kit easier to get the right sound.

Thank you for sharing, Mr. Virgil Donati! I have a question about your playing: Why do you still use traditional grip? Isn't it more uncomfortable when you do those kinds of licks and odd time beats?
@busterjesik69802 жыл бұрын
He looks pretty comfortable to me.

Only Marco Minneman and Gavin Harrison can play shit like this besides Virgil and Thomas...
@edgoodstuff61333 жыл бұрын
and Mike Mangini, and Chris Coleman, and Larnell Lewis, and Terry Bozzio, and Chad Wackerman, and Simon Phillips, und Claus Hessler, e Antonio Sanchez, y Horacio 'El Negro' Hernandez... And all of them hit heavy in odd time signatures and polyrythms. There is a whole galaxy with many Drum Stars on similar level that should not be compared. And there are many different galaxes :)

When god decide to play drum...
@snorhyveln6 жыл бұрын
Seriously.. I'm a drummer, but I just don't get this ADHD playing-style with turning upside down on rhythms, odd times, and orchestrated licks with as many hits/second as possible?! I just don't get impressed any longer on what I can overcome on the internet these days! But, I guess that's my problem..? Huge espect to VD and TL though, not to forget!
@wewewewa6 жыл бұрын
Bear B there is beauty in technique and structure
@snorhyveln6 жыл бұрын
wewewewa : yeah, but only as long as music is in the solo! Otherwise it's only a show of hands, not of heart!
@wewewewa6 жыл бұрын
Bear B what?
@snorhyveln6 жыл бұрын
wewewewa : shall I repeat? Ok., I respect both drummers very much, but I can't see the reason why two of the world topdrummers play with such frenetic technique and odd time playing and they doesn't get it right when it comes to feeling and groove and musicality expressions? Hey.. it's my opinion! Don't mind reply if you doesn't understand me. I believe I was informative and clear?
@fedexrrico6 жыл бұрын
Virgil is in a completely different level of understanding of music... That's why you don't get it. I think it's the most beautiful way of feeling and playing the drums!
@Campbell1.2 жыл бұрын
Amazing drummers, big fan of Donati, but the exercise of having two drummers is totally useless
