Great video Bodgie! Very entertaining and comprehensive too. Loving the outtakes. I've been looking into getting some praecox rainbows for a while however I do have some top dwelling fish, the harlequin rasbora which I've had for 2 years now, they are great and extremely hardy, so enjoying then while they are around. These rainbowfish are pretty easy to find here in the UK so that's good. Another Australian KZbinr, KeepingFishSimple, is also a fanatic for the praecox rainbowfish, he has bred them and is doing really well with them. Keep those videos coming, I've just subscribed to your channel oh and I've hit the like button too. Cheers

Good stuff, like your enthusiasm. They are one of my favourite Rainbowfish too. Not sure about your size estimate of 8-10cm. I've never seen any that big.

Thanks Glen!!! yeah i mighttt have over estimated the size but i have seen a school of all males before pushing the size! but yeah they would average around 6cm

Hello from Canada 🇨🇦 Good delivery in your video. Love you’re passion for the hobby 💙 as well. I do have some questions about dwarf neon rainbow fish 🐠. Is it ok to mix live and artificial plants to create a heavily planted aquarium for them. Also I can’t find anything on the internet on how to enhance their colors naturally through certain foods, water temperature or any other means ? I have one male and one female in a 30 gallon aquarium with three mollies, several guppies, several platys, and one lonely cardinal tetra (long story lol). My rainbows are older now but hardly any color. How can I enhance their Color’s to be darker and bolder? Thank you 🙏🏽 you
@BodgieFromStraya2 жыл бұрын
Hi Madhavi! Thank you for watching and asking such great questions! Q1) its perfectly fine to mix both real and fake plants to create a planted aquarium for them. I personally would lean towards the real plant only with some easy options being Elodea, Vallesneria, hygrophilla polysperma and wisteria. Q2) it certainly is possible to naturally enhance their colours through food and temperature can also play a factor in this. great quality foods such as Xtreme and baby brine shrimp, bloodworms and Mysis shrimp will really help them with growth and colour. warmer water around 26 degrees will induce activity and result in better colours. However the best option I see for yourself is to simply get more neon rainbows if space allows. they are a big time schooling fish meaning that the more you have, the better they colour up! Hope this helps!

Awesome video!! Would these rainbows do well in a tank that is 60 cm long, 38 cm high and 30cm wide? I’m thinking of just keeping males only display tank. How many fish can I keep in this size tank? Also can I add tank mates?
@BodgieFromStraya4 жыл бұрын
Hey edd8866! i think they are great dimensions, I would personally go for a school of 4 and I think they should be okay in the long run as well! in terms of tank mate I would only add bottom dwellers such as cories or small loaches as the rainbows would take up the top area! Thankyou for the amazing support!
@henryt57803 жыл бұрын
What tank mates do u recommend look good with them? For display tank
@BodgieFromStraya3 жыл бұрын
hey mate! my recommendation would always be other rainbows but angelfish, Corydoras and a tonne of tropical aquarium fish would be totally fine

Great video! How are they compared to Boesemani Rainbow fish? Which do you prefer?
@BodgieFromStraya4 жыл бұрын
funny thing is I have both! hahaha the praecox are muchhh faster growing for a display size where as the bosemani take a good 2 years to get to display size. I personally like the praecox over the bosemani because if that small cute size and amazing schooling behaviour!

I get the best colours from my male rainbow fish when there are females. And when I move the males out into a male only tank they don’t show as much colour.

Wow, I have encountered situations like this before and I really think it is dependent on the batch. Like mine were fully flared up with just males.

Bro... Can I keep neno rainbow fish with gold fish's??? In community fish tank???
@BodgieFromStraya4 жыл бұрын
Hey Darshan! I wouldn't recommend it just because goldfish and rainbows have very different care requirements. also the goldfish have a high chance of being outcompeted for food. a good option would be whiteclouds or danios!

If you want your male rainbows to show themselves you need a female that will make the males display for you more often
@BodgieFromStraya3 жыл бұрын
hey darryl, agreed 100%. only issue is my school was all males so adding 2-3 females wasn't such a good option haha. but the males actually did display a lot because they would compete with each other a fair bit so still a win win situation.

Group of 6 is too small. At least 10-15
@BodgieFromStraya3 жыл бұрын
10 - 15 is 100% ideal but I would be confident in saying that 6 would be fine as a bare minimum for someone who's looking at getting these fish. it ensures a good mix of males & females, makes a decent school and can is suitable in the long run as well
