Hell yeah! Love Dweezil's playing. Seems like a genuinely cool guy as well. I think it's awesome that he's showcasing his fathers music live. Who better to do it? Steve in usual Quaalude mode even though he's sober LOL quite possibly the most placid interviewer ever. I'm a huge Zappa fan and a huge Pistols fan but Jesus H. Christ it's opposite ends of the spectrum guitar wise. Not that it matters. Both good stuff to crank on the stereo. Anyways...Dweezil rocks. Keep the great guests coming Jonesy!

Frank Zappa's final concert is getting released on CD and vinyl and it's being produced by Ahmet Zappa and Joe Travers with NO involvement from Dweezil. To me that's complete bullshit. Dweezil absolutely should've been involved. I love how Joe was in Dweezil's solo band years ago as well as the Z band which was Dweezil on guitar and vocals and Ahmet on vocals and now Joe has nothing to do with Dweezil siding with Ahmet instead. That's underhanded to me. I went to see Joe at The Baked Potato with his band doing a Zappa tribute. Not knowing Joe's issues against and with Dweezil at the time, I wore my TEAM DWEEZIL tshirt I got through a fundraising campaign. After the show Joe saw my shirt and was really upset, letting me know. How was I to know?? My attitude was Dweezil is a ZAPPA and I'm just showing support. I still side with DWEEZIL to this day. Not only is he a great guy but musically speaking, he's incredible.

Steve really making himself look like a fool in this interview Dweezil is a very smart guy and the interview is a little uncomfortable which is unfortunate because Dweezil has a lot of great stories Steve I'm a supporter and I watch most of these interviews that you do but please do more homework about the guests that you're interviewing these guys are 10 times the superstar that you'll ever be and I'm not slyting you that's just the facts ! And don't be ignorant go to the 3-hour show that he's performing and I'm almost confident you'll be blown away
@Vichedges
@Vichedges 5 жыл бұрын
Dweezil Zappa is "ten times the superstar" that Jones is? Steve isn't a "superstar" but Dweezil for damn sure isn't. I agree Steve was a bit rude but come on dude. Dweezil is barely known to the general public and I doubt he's ever made anything close to NMTB as far as influence and prestige goes. NMTB is always ranked as one of the greatest rock albums of all time. The only thing I know by DZ is the Ben Stiller Show theme song.
@LetsGoMetsGo33
@LetsGoMetsGo33 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I gotta chime in on the "10 times the Superstar" idea too. Lets see: Steve Jones is in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame. Dweezil, not. Sure his dad is, but that doesn't count to Dweezil's ledger. Steve Jones has a platinum album in the US, which was also multi platinum in the UK. Dweezil, to my knowledge, does not. Steve Jones, not Dweezil, had a song go to #2 on the UK pop charts ("God save the Queen"). Steve Jones has inspired many thousands of guitarists to play. Dweezil hasn't (again, we can't give him credit for his dad's work). For the record, I enjoyed the interview, but this is literally the only context that I would find DZ interesting in. Steve should NOT research his guests, there are plenty of faceless and similar-to-one-another "pro" interviewers who do that. Steve is a "punk" DJ just as he is a punk guitarists, and his healthy sized audience can attest to the fact that we like that fine. Finally, while I admire DZ's talent, he was a bit of a lame participant in this jam session. Look at (Frank's former bandmate) Steve Vai's visit with Jonesy to see how fluid such an endeavor can be.

Jonesy is very successful on this day of being a total dick and a shit interviewer and Dweezil Zappa for the 79,086 day in a row comes off warm, intelligent, caring, witty, honorable, passionate, protective or his father's legacy, not self-absorbed, appreciative of fans, an absolute guitar virtuoso, and someone who would make a damn good friend. I am super satisfied to be that entertained and so glad to have forked over more of my hard earned money for a concert T-shirt. Note to the band: Thank you SO MUCH for playing Reno please come back again soon! Also - keep promoting your tour - it is effective and pays off for sure, I would not have known to go to the show without randomly stumbling on some of these things on KZbin and social media.

I like Dweezil Zappa but he can never match his fathers output and humor! His father was an original and independent. He had his own record label and sold his music directly by mail order. Zappa was a brilliant business man as well as musician and provocateur. Steve’s really giving Dweezil a hard time in this interview like he doesn’t like him or he’s bored and doesn’t care to interview him! This is not one of his better interviews! And the other bad one was with John Carpenter the director! Jones didn’t even know his films hardly so he didn’t have any good questions. He didn’t do any homework or research to make the interview better! So he dropped the ball there. Jones is fairly lazy and doesn’t seem to want to be bothered with actual research on some one he’s about to interview. Oh well, I guess it doesn’t matter anymore. Larry King has much better questions and seems engaged when he interviews someone.

the last thing we'd want Dweezil to be is just like his father. I've met DZ and he's about as nice a guy as you'd ever hope to meet. What we want is a torch bearer of Frank's brilliant music and Dweezil fills those shoes perfectly. I imagine Frank is looking down and thinking "thank god (intentional lower case 'g') I had that boy !! " And we do have a someone with Frank's personality and he's called Ahmet Zappa and is as big an asshole as his Father could often times be. If it was up to Ahmet, Frank's music would be coughing up blood if not outright dead. Long Live the Dweez !!
