As a Swede, I'm embarrassed that these hosts didn't have a clue about a thing. Not only did they mispronounce the names of Ahmet and Dweezil, but they were sure that the song (Black Napkins) is from Sheik Yerbouti (which they also mispronounced), when the song is, in fact, from the album Zoot Allures. I'm sure that it's standard practice for networks to simply hand over a brief note with a bit of info about the day's guests beforehand, but clearly it wasn't enough this time. The best hosts are the ones who take the time to actually learn a bit about their guests before they meet them, even if they're not especially interested. But those hosts are very rare.

wow. why do you chose to make it personal to you? get over yourself. i'm assuming you have zero involvement in the family? when we are not part of something it isn't for us to have opinions on things, it's not our business. what is for us is a rich history of some of the finest music ever to come from the rock genre, and i'm glad it continues. i grew up on cherishing the cerebral, funny stories. Along with a lever of musical talent unsurpassed even by such as Mozart or Bach. Keep to what we can know, we're not a part of the family, we don't know all the story, not our business to judge. get over you outsider self.

It was evident that Gail was a control-freak! To make Ahmed and Diva executors to Frank's estate only accentuates her diabolic nature. When she interferes, taxes, or creates any roadblocks for Dweezil to play his father's music under any moniker. As a fan, and moralist, I have to say "fuck off"..
@paulinebutcherbird7 жыл бұрын
Although I don't agree with the venom of Christos Nastou's comment, I do also disagree with your comment that 'it's not our business'. It very much is our business when two family members publicise their squabbles for all of us to read.
@manoftheworld10007 жыл бұрын
@Wane Braack I totally agree with you that others' family affairs are not our business. Still I should inform you about the "Zappanale" festival, a non-profit music festival taking place once a year in Germany, honouring Frank's music and personality. In 2008 Gail Zappa sued the organizers of the festival because they used Zappa's name (would ye believe it) and pictures of his moustache (hear! hear!). For 4 years the Zappanale organizers faced a 250,000 € fine until in 2012 the claim was finally dismissed by the German supreme court! Btw, this year's festival will have *Dweezil* as a special guest!

I hope after you've read my book that your opinion of Gail might be revised. It does seem as though she went a bit doolappy toward the end of her life but until that time she was an excellent mother and carer and Frank trusted her in that role. He, nor their four offspring, I suspect, would have suspected how unhappy things have turned out.

Hi Pauline, I thought you would've know that Ahmet doesn't play an instrument at all. Interestingly Gail and Ahmet keep pushing about Ahmet playing with ZPZ even after Dweezil states that he is the only person in the family that plays an instrument. Could this be a small annoyance to Gail amongst others that led to an eventual family feud.I can see the seed being planted and nurtured here for the ensuing rift. How dare they ( G and A) be so rude to Dweezil. This telling interview shows me where this family squabble has its roots.Insecurity and fear.

And there was Gail saying how proud she was that her boys would be playing Zappa plays Zappa tour, but obviously when Ahmet was excluded the shutters came down and they (Gail and Ahmet) said Dweezil could not call it Zappa plays Zappa.
