The only one I've been to is the Frankfurt aM market in the Romer Platz (at least in the late 70's). Loved going...

What I still try to understand after visiting and filming 14 Markets this year - the readiness to wait 30-40 minutes in a line to buy a Sausage and Glühwein. Especially when there is a SECOND tent around the corner with almost no people there 😁

Haven't been to a Christmas market in Germany, but would love to. My hometown, Chicago, has a lot of German immigrants, and the Christkindlmarket downtown is an annual tradition.
@K__a__M__I2 жыл бұрын
A lot of the vendors at the Chicago Christkindlmarket are from Germany and they bring their products over (which also explains the prices😬) - so i'd say it's probably the closest to the real thing you can get in the US.

Hey, I ran into an elderly German couple today while out exploring. They asked if I would take their picture with the beautiful Honolulu skyline in the background, I said of course! 📷

In Kenya we usually go upcountry for Christmas to see Grandparents and other members of the extended family, we leave on 23rd of December and come back on 27th of December. We slaughter a goat or bull, but we also borrow some western traditions like having a Christmas cake🎄🎄🎄🎀🎀🎀🎁🎁🎁 Everything at the Christmas markets looks so perfect I would love to visit one.

Hi DW! I am a German teacher and use the DW videos frequently for educational purposes for learning about culture. Usually these videos are great, but why did you have to put in the "erotic" portion? This is definitely not appropriate for a school setting. Is this necessary? I know I can certainly skip over that portion, but I don't think it adds to value to educating people about a German Christmas market. I found it tasteless.

0:45 *free 'to enter'.... you don't want people going to Germany and not paying for stuff that they take from the market because "this Scottish/Irish woman on DW said they were free!"

How to make the most of the german christmas markets? Simply do not go there! Most times it is just massive overpriced fast food and "Glühwein" out of the tetra pack with too much and too dominant spices to mask the bad quality. The best is that it ends at the 24th of December...
@frankderessener44772 жыл бұрын
Then you must not go anywhere. Every event is overpriced, not only Christmas markets. The lady in the video is right. Mix Gluehwein with Amaretto and drink it as long as it is hot. Of course they don ´t use a 1925 chateau lafitte for the Gluehwein. 😊😊
@tygattyche25452 жыл бұрын
@@frankderessener4477 That's right, at every event the merchants take higher prices than normal. No one would expect anything else. The point is it is hard to go around the christmas markets as they occupy the inner cities. Ah, yes and as christmas markets (not commercial markets) they should have something to do with this christmas thing...
