It does my heart a lot of good to know Dwight is still out there touring and doing his thing. If you haven’t yet, definitely check out his new album, Brighter Days. I’ll be honest: despite being a huge DY fan, it had to grow on me a little - mostly because it’s kind of weird to hear him sound so optimistic on many of the songs - but the new songs are all very strong, especially his cover of Cake’s “Bound Away” and his revved up rendition of “Keep On the Sunny Side” by the Carter Family. I just hope he doesn’t take another nine years to put out another album.

@@SuzyQ1956 His live rendition of Little Queenie is a favorite of mine; I have a couple videos saved from KZbin of him performing it that I watch pretty frequently. The way he can take another artist’s song and completely reimagine it in his own way and style…it’s honestly an ability that rivals his voice and his songwriting in terms of personal strengths. His covers are always so innovative. Makes me want him to put out a sequel to his Under the Covers album.

Phantastic ! Wow ! what a sound, what a voice, Dwight Yoakam is real and authenic country music. I saw him in 1994 for the first time in a country broadcast on TV with "pocket of a clown", and i was really impressed, here in Europe american country music is not really popular, for a small group of fans only, and for me, Dwight continues the "golden era" of country music with all the big stars from these days, quality never loses its shine, no matter what decade. I love the arrangements in Dwights music, very detailed for every instrument, and Eugene on the fender telecaster a class of its own !
