I’ve notice the same thing, that this movement is growing at lightening speed compared to the Viet Nam War protests. Generation Z were born into the digital, social media space. At this rate, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Mid-West campuses join in big time, also, I could easily imagine high schools, nationwide, getting active. There are going to countless students all across America who grew up in poverty who will have their lives significantly impacted by this. Many may never be able to enroll in university again because of the destabilization caused by these protests interrupting their lives. These will be the people least able to alter policy, but they will be the ones most affected. The targeting is wrong. All these protests are going to do is cause even more harm. And the mob in Hong Kong that attacked students with no reaction from the police
@tripe2237
@tripe2237 15 күн бұрын
There are other similarities with everything going on in Gaza and the west bank. The media rhetoric. Weeks of demonization of the protesters. Unsubstantiated garbage. Outright lies. Constant accusations of antisemitism. Calling them terrorists. Building fear. Trying to make mundane objects look like sinister terrorist tools. Constant claims of "outside agitators" while providing no evidence and it's clear the attacking mob were all from outside the campus. The media has been hammering on these protesters for weeks. Some major networks didn't even give this attack a segment. Like it didn't happen. Others acted as if it was unclear of who instigated when it was entirely obvious and the whole thing is on video, including from a news helicopter and crews on the ground. One of the early victims was a news crew getting maced. The mob drew back at one point to dance, chant "USA USA" while waving Israeli flags, proud of the brutality they had just inflicted. They had people posing as bystanders trying to get interviews with the news. One was asked if he was with the mob, he denied it right after he went on an "us vs them" rant deflecting everything onto the protesters. Everything these protesters have been accused of just manifested in an attack from a violent pro-Israeli mob. The media and some of our politicians share some blame in this. Of course, no one will admit their rhetoric is contributing to the hatred and making people unsafe. The whole thing is absurd.

Protesters may not be pro-Palestine; Some just hate wars. We need to decide that we will not go to war, whatever reason is conjured up by the politicians or the media, because war in our time is always indiscriminate, a war against innocents, a war against children, as Howard Zinn said.

Administrators of schools need to be able to administrate and educate the students without invasions inside the campus. There is were the abuse begins; the school has to be impartial about the conflict and not to be forced to support any cause but to educate. Is not about the conflict or the right to protest, is about the abuse, dirtying, pooping, etc. inside private property and disturbing other students, the programs and normal activities INSIDE the school. So, whatever protests or demonstrations should be made in public areas and not private property.

There's virtually no comparisons between the protests of today in the nineteen sixties for one simple reason: Young people were being drafted for military service for a war that had been essentially by that point a meat grinder of the american public as well as countless vietnamese, cambodians and so forth. While the actions overseas are questionable, Gaza exists within the state of israel as a recognized country. I hope for a 2 state solution that will begin to heal.These peoples, but for right now.All that these kids are doing, Especially the outside agitators and thugs, amongst those actually attending those universities, are making it easier for donald trump to come back to power and give an even bigger blank check to the war planners. These folks need to put their passions towards maintaining our democracy And not stay home as they (those who were old enough to vote in 2015) did before and allow trump to come to power.

Why does the Midwest not respond like the rest of the country? Conservatives tend to trust the US government when it comes to military action in the world. The rest of us are tired of endless wars that benefit the weapons manufacturers and their investors. I say that as a tax payer indirectly “investing” my taxes into war after war after war. I don’t see the benefit. All I see is unlimited spending when it comes to the military, while the cost of living for the average American goes higher and higher. It’s not just a Midwest vs coastal issue though. What I find fascinating is the distrust conservatives tend to have toward big government, but when it comes to the military, it’s the opposite.
@oldsenpai4337
@oldsenpai4337 16 күн бұрын
cause many people in the Midwest serve in the military(or have family that serves) and it helps support their way of life. I think more people trust the military cause its done good by many people and help many people get out of poverty, get an education, and get future jobs outside the military. you can have distrust of big government but support the military, which protects you from outside threats.

I was asking why hadn't the cops done something yet? Now I see the protests in the USA, the cops didn't wait. Such a big difference, not just in the responses form the authority, but more so the responses from the media. Really awakening when you can see direct comparisons.
