I have never seen yellow bass here in Michigan. I've been fishing for 65 years and guiding since I was 17. My father was a guide on lake saint clàire from 1930. I never knew yellow bass existed. Thanks for the video.

If you want to feel like a kid again go fish yellow bass. They fight awesome hard to tell how big they are by the fight. Taste great.

Great tip on catching more yellow bass with a yellow bass fillet! Works awesome for perch too when they're really biting! I especially love using the eyes.

I don't think anything works better for catching perch than a perch eye on a perch colored spoon!

The dnr are doing fish kills at a couple local lakes around here because of over population of yellow bass

Trick is finding a lake near me that has them in any numbers. Closest one that comes to mind is almost 2 hours away, and they run very small, 5"-7". Not worth the drive when I can load up on gills. Might make the trip to Clear Lake in the Dakota's one year. Lots of big ones in that lake. About 20 years ago, they would run the Fox from Illinois up through SE Wisconsin. You could wade and catch all you wanted. Nice ones from 9"-11".

Here in Iowa we had a lake that used to chock full of them and they still hold a tournament every year called the yellow bass bonanza. My biggest is 13” but it wasn’t through the ice.
