DX ON SPOTLIGHT: Kutawato Dance Bureau

Kutawato Dance Bureau is the Cotabato City’s Premier Culture Dance Troupe under the leadership of Ms. Arvie Roa Macmod-Sinsuat. It was founded in 2005 by the late Maestro Benjamin N. Abarca. The group is composed of out of school youth and professional individuals. In 2007, the group has successfully represented the Philippines at the annual International Ethnic Folklore Festival in New Delhi, India. KDB performs different Bangsmoro dances that depict the colorful culture and traditions of the Moros.
Silong sa Ganding is a Maguindanaon dance that is a favorite among royal courts. The dance is very demanding for discipline because hand positions and placements required are very precise. This dance composes of five dancers, four dancers represent the Gandingan a melodious four shallow rimmed gongs exclusive for the Maguindanaon. And the fifth dancer represents the player of the Gandingan. Silong sa Ganding would thus be translated as following the rhythm of the Gandingan.
