The untreated image looks much better! It has a lot more character and depth.

LOL. I had to peek at the video again to remind myself about that image. I know what you mean. There are aspects of that before that I prefer. That image was one that I mucked about with but was never really happy with. I had stongly wished I hadn't softened the water soooooo much... so in the end that was not a keeper... just needed an image to show the compare bit I wanted to show. I find I often change my mind on processing if I come back to it again later.

It happens to anyone of us. Overdoing is a part of the learning curve!

Great tip and nobody else I've seen has mentioned it. And not at all intuitive so I'd have spent a lot of time turning on/off the adjustments without it. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Don.. love your channel thanks very much, i've been looking at the compare function lately and dont find it very intuitive, I wonder if there are some additional tips you have on usage. e.g. i notice: selecting a virtual copy and comparing to the master places the editing copy on the right hand side, more logical to me that selecting master first to compare copies, selecting some tools like white balance and local adj seem to cancel compare but not others, if some tools are selected before compare like white balance then compare becomes split screen rather than full image, not sue if this behavior is following any rules or you just need to know. Can virtual copies be compared to each other and is there any way/trick to compare different images? thanks again.

Great suggestion. I will have a look at that as a video topic. Cheers and thanks for watching.

Can’t one do the same thing simply by turning “local adjustments” on and off (i.e., clicking the box to the left of the “local adjustments” label)?
@dxflow327111 ай бұрын
Absolutely. There are often many ways to get at things. This was more for those that might be used to heading to the compare button at the top... and how that changes depending on where you are. :) But you are right... it would have been good to include this one. Thanks for watching.

Hi can you do a video about local adjustments and people. I struggle with skin. Thank you
@dxflow3271 Жыл бұрын
Sure thing. I think that is a great idea. Of course we have those new portrait renderings that will help right from the start, but some local adjustments - especially HSL is in order.

Hope you found it... But there is a spot where you can choose your ratio... Or set it to free crop mode. Bottom left of the image window of your on windows. Cheers

@@dxflow3271 Colleagues, maybe you can give me some advice on the topic of changing the aspect ratio? For a frame shot horizontally, I want to choose the same ratio, but with the central part framed vertically. I can't do that. It is obtained only through complete removal of ratios and manual cropping. But this is not exactly what I want. I just need to keep 3:2 or 2:3, but flipped 90 degrees. I don’t know if I could ask clearly.

@@SergNikiforovGordeev Just grab one of the corner handles and keep dragging until it flips ratio. Just as you hope, it should maintain the correct ratio - just flipped aspect. Give it a try. If it doesn't work for you I will record a short clip of how to do it.

Sorry I meant to add... drag it in towards the other corner (i.e. if you pick a bottom left corner, drag it towards the bottom right corner). Don't do diagonal or it will just keep resizing.

The user guide isn't updated for v. 7 yet, and when asking with 'before and after', I am just thrown to a general list of items - the same with 'local adjustments' - and this is the behavior when DxO doesn't recognize a search term. In my opinion the world's least user friendly user guide EVER. Most of the time - plain useless. Fortunately the forum is much better. So, thank you for this tip to restore sanity.

I'll forgive you just THIS ONCE for your negligence. I don't blame your computer for being an old grump grump.

Nice. Thanks for bringing the humour. And yes, I shouldn't give the old grump computer a hard time.
