the meaning of the song is that both bang chan and hyunjin struggle to step away from their work and they feel like they can’t take a break, so that’s where the lyrics come from, the title in korean is “compulsion” referring to their drive to not stop working even if it’s not good for them, they added the more provocative lyrics for fun hahah to make the song more interesting by letting the listener think the song is abt them and not work

And Han, Seungmin and IN made the track “Gone Away” Surfin’ is just a good summer song with just happy vibes and Gone Away is like a love song but a little sad and w some acting. Chan and Hyunjin's Red Lights use sex as a metaphor for obsession and being a perfectionist / slave to their work and I think that's so fucking brilliant. I love that Skz are experimenting with a more mature concept now. Also, will you notice how Chan is the common factor! the core strength hyunjin has to hold that pose while dancing is so insane!! I knew he is super strong and always works hard on his dance, even chan said he is second strongest in skz (only after chan himself he said Imao), but stunts and stuff like that really remind me of that and i'm amazed everytime please the upper back is the only supported part, i'd be shivering trying to dance that and he makes it look like it's nothing to him. This is more than a sexy song. Even before they had the first verse. Hyunjin and Chan already wanted to focus their song on compulsion, obsession with something that is not necessarily someone. Hyunjin explained how they wanted to convey the need for something inside of them that is so intense that it becomes difficult to live without it, to the point that it is unhealthy. Both Chan and Hyunjin are also known to be workaholics and perfectionists in the group and I think this song honestly shows such a vulnerable side ofthem. Something that causes them pain and pleasure and something that they cannot get rid of, although they know that at times it turns bad for them. Example: work. This song and video has so many layers.

Example Sting from the 80's band had a hit called Roxane and the first verse was " Roxane you don't have to put on the red lights, those days are over . Since there are 3 members who compose songs, 3RACHA (Chan, Changbin and Han), they were divided into 3 groups with one of them being in each. Chan + Hyunjin made *Red Lights* Changbin + Lee Know + Felix made *Surfin'* Han + Seungmin + I.N made *Gone Away* Each song is totally different. They had free hand to make anything they like and even decided on their MVs etc. I recommend to react to them all Also Red Lights is supposed to be about obsession. Hyunjin is obsessed with dancing, Chan with making music. Chan especially is infamously known for not sleeping and suffering with insomnia making music all night. So the song is about their inner battle with their obsession. They love it, but it's tiring them mentally and physically. But they can't let their obsession go.

@@cvcv6615 well... First get your facts. There are two whole episodes about Hyunjin and Chan composing the song and doing the music video. Then there is another where they explain the meaning. It's not my take, THEY officially said it and composed it with that intention... Red light has many meanings, too. Over here it's more like warning signal. Basically they have warning signals going on yet they can't stop their obsession. Don't just force the meaning based on your culture, first see what the artist meant. Of course they purposely made it more sexy, as obsession usually is portrayed. But it's definitely not about prostitution

At first some think thought this song is just a sexy song, But they both tried to play along with that concept. The real meaning of this song is obsession, like for them it’s work, they feel like they always have to be working. In the MV chan and hyunjin are just one person with 2 different side, they are trying run away from each other. STAYs were in love with this song so much, that SKY made a surprised and performed an OT8 version of this song at their concerts. You can imagine how crazy everyone went! SKY like experimenting with sound and genres, especially in b-sides. And they used to have more rock influence in their earlier songs. I recommend "never ending story", if you don't have it on your to-do-list yet - no MV, but there is a live performance.

That's why chan said Hyunjin wrote it ( mostly) since chan is the one translated some Korean words into English ones. For ot8 version it's Hyunjin idea so definitely chan let Hyunjin make the call if it concerning red lights since it's indeed HyunChan song. ☺️ ( I believe chan will let his other duo/trio ( leeknow, I.N ) make the call too if they want to hv ot8 drive, ot8 maknae on top)

First off, I'm not sure if you know this, but there is a reason why Bang Chang is shaped like a dorito chip (upside down triangle). So wide shoulders, small waist, and one hell of a strong back. Back in Austrailia, Chan's dad has been a swimming coach all of Chan's life. He coaches mostly those who are disabled. Chan was coached by his dad and won a lot of awards for his swimming. His mom has all of his medals and trophies on display in her "Stray Kids" room. So you see, they know what they are doing when Chan shows his abs, chest, and yes even his back. 😄 Now as for the song and the MV, I know technically what they wrote it about. Oh and they do like to mess with each other, as well as STAYS, they both always say the same thing. The other one wrote the lryics. And the thing is I see and hear it differently from others, including the way you guys saw it...u asked if they were together.... To me, and I don't know if anyone sees or hears it the way I do but, they are talking to themselves. Or at least their subconscious. Think about what the lryics say...second verse begins, "Tell me you hate me." I know a lot of ppl who fight within and with themselves. The scene in the beds, always standing over each other when the other is asleep but gone when they wake up, talking to themselves in the mirror. The lryics talk about losing control....someone could easily lose control over their subconscious. But like I said, this is how I see and hear it, nit necessarily what it means...that's the whole point of art...everyone is to come up with their on conclusion on every piece. Good Luck Gentlemen...
