DYEING MY HAIR BLUE // With Arctic Fox Aquamarine

For those of you commenting about the developer and probably think I didn't do research before adding it. I did do research, it did not damage my hair any more than straight dyes do to my hair, I'm very happy with the color and how even or uneven it is. And I'm liking the way it's fading so I'm not worried about it being difficult to remove. Thank you for ya'lls concern tho! I'm all out of developer so it won't happen again!

It's not really the fact that it will damage your hair or be patchy, it's just a super unnecessary addition to the dye and just a bit of a waste of money/product!

Lauren Mortensen but the thing is, developer doesn't do anything to direct dyes. So I'm not sure what research you did but it will literally have no "prolonging" effect on your hair dye. It really is unnecessary and damaging and while you say you don't notice any difference that doesn't mean it's not there.

Lauren Mortensen 1. You added conditioner 2. You added developer You can add conditioner if you want to dilute a direct dye. Adding developer does absolutely nothing with arctic fox, manic panic, pravana, iroiro, etc. companies because they're direct dyes.

I don't use the developer in the Arctic Fox hair dye because it doesn't add anything to it. I actually found that by NOT adding it, the color lasted longer. I also wrap my hair in plastic and blow dry for 15 minutes, then let it set in my hair for another 45. The vividness of the color lasts 4 weeks-ish, depending on the color and how often I wash my hair/what shampoo I use.

I just dyed mine with the same color today, but I didn't dilute it with conditioner. I had dyed my hair pink/red last time and it had faded to almost white and my roots had grown, so I got a 20 developer bleach to get out some color and now my hair goes from green, to blue, to green again, and looks awesome! I love the way yours turned out, super pretty!

The developer wouldnt have done any harm. There's nothing in the mix for it to chemically react with or "develop". So dont panic or have a go. She just didnt know. A direct dye, or true semi is lirerally just that direct dye onto hair. And it seems to have worked out well. Plus it looks ace and she knows for next time. Educate, dont belittile.

while developer won't damage your hair, it is part of the color lifting process, and usually when added to colors, especially pastels it will cause the color to not set as well as it could and can give you uneven patches of different colors. It is most likely the cause of the green tones due to the blue not being able to set.

milk4cat developer does damage your hair due to the fact that it has hydrogen peroxide in it. hydrogen peroxide bleaches your hair. the different volumes of developer differ in the amount of hydrogen peroxide but even the 10 percent still does damage/has peroxide.

milk4cat developer definitely damages your hair. And it wouldnt cause it to not set, it would do the opposite and may make it harder for her to remove. You should never use developer on direct dyes. Even for removal, it's best not to use developer because it may drive the color in deeper or cause it to turn a not so nice color.

I have light brown hair with blond highlights, I wanted to try semi permanent dye for a long time but I worry that it would not wash off. How long does it take to fully wash off ? I want to try 2 purples light and dark, 2 blues, or 2 pinks . I would greatly appreciate any suggestions, advice.

It's green because your roots were yellow and weren't toned. Blue + yellow = green.

Damn that colours beautiful! too bad I already ordered my colours or I’d have added it to the order, of course I have to take into account my hair might not bleach so white and the colour will obviously be less blue and more green the yellower the hair comes out. I love pink, light purple and aquamarine colours together so pretty, I’m going to try to do it and hope it comes out somewhat pretty.

Addy Moreno it faded to like a Crest toothpaste color. Honestly I didn’t mind it and I didn’t touch my hair for a good 2-3 months after this

Haylie Joe I actually really like how this color faded. It’s not like a super gross green it’s kinda like crest toothpaste. I recently did this color again and it’s starting to fade and I’ve been putting purple shampoo in my hair and it turns more into a faded turquoise-blue silver but even without the purple shampoo it looks fine

Maria Garcia I love this blue dye I used. When I was researching which one I should use all the reviews said this one lasted so much longer than manic panics and they were so right! I added a lot of conditioner to it too which will usually make the dye not last as long but my hair still looks pretty bright. It's more like a sort of mint color now but I think it still looks really good

I think it stayed this vibrant for maybe a month but it faded pretty nicely so I kept it in for about 3 months before I dyed my hair to brown. It was like Crest toothpaste looking by the end but I honestly didn’t hate it

As a hairdresser, there was no reason to put developer in your direct dye, it was also a waste of product. Developers do cause damage, any time you color your hair and use a developer it forces your cuticle to open so it can get into the hair, the cuticle does not always go back to the way it was. Minimal damage over time adds up.

cay252 if you wash your hair with cold water and use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner once or twice a week the color can last up to two months my hair is still bright ass pink and I went from grey to it :)
