Dyeing my Louis Vuitton Reade Handbag - I screwed up a bit... Make yours better!

I have finally done it. My Louis Vuitton Reade bag is now black! Mostly... I made quite a few boo-boos in this video. I made mistakes so that hopefully you will not have to! Still, I am happy with my result. I hope you enjoy watching me both flub up and experiment a little.

I dyed a Faragomo patent leather bag and just couldn't get the streakyness out. In the end i did some graffiti painting on it, I'm not overly happy with it but it looks ok. The bag was about $50 aus so I wasn't overly worried

I think a lot has to do with the invisible quality of the coating of the bag you have, and your diligence with the acetone. I definitely did not do as well as I could have…. I think we really have to make sure we melt the surface a bit!

I mean for 35$ That turned out pretty good. How did the resolene hold up? Also was thinking with the streaking if you maybe could go back over slightly with the acetone and layer another round of dye if that would help?

Cheers, it's holding up just fine, but i think if i want rid of the fibers I'd have to strip it and redo. .. can't be bothered!

When I dyed my Vernis Eldridge wallet I had less streaks after applying resolene. I found out by accident because I meant to add a second coat of leather sheen attempting to cover the streaks after buffing it out. I. accidentally used resolene instead of leather sheen on second coat and Surprisingly turned out well and looked so much better. 😅Why do they say not to use resolene on vernis?

You know what? I’m not sure… maybe I’ll try it next time😂. The biggest boo boo was actually using a lint-filled cloth!
