I think when he says there were no moves and they tell him he doesn't have the moves they're really talking about the ability to escape the loop they're experiencing. so when the dad says "you dont have the moves, you never had the moves" he's actually berating himself for his inability to escape, so really he's saying 'you can't escape, you could never escape'.
@nerine86097 жыл бұрын
holy shit that makes sense. does that mean in dying [1], when the dad says to the mom, 'your moves are weak, babe' shows that the other split personalities tried to escape themselves? only to realize they couldn't because they were never in control of the body? therefore making them 'weak' compared to the main self, aka the son?
@Harrymcnani7 жыл бұрын
What the fuck guys, this is to much for me to handle man
@C-R-l-M-S-O-N7 жыл бұрын
I think the mom is the final stage, the dad is middle stage and the son is the first stage. the mom represents him giving up and becoming weak, she also seems to have come to terms with the fact that "there were no moves" more than the dad has or the son for that matter. this is why they try to ostracize 'her'as she has completely lost hope of escaping, this is why they tell her "your moves are weak". the dad is the middle stage and is trying to escape himself and hasn't quiet accepted his fate yet. eventually he seems to have realized he cant and therefor tells the son at some point that he has the moves (the ability to escape) because he irrationally thinks the son can find out how to escape, maybe he thinks that the son will remember how he got there? eventually the dad will lose hope and become like the mom and the son will become like the dad. this is referenced in this one when the son says to the dad "what do you want, bitch?" it's a harbinger of what the future hold for each character. the dad eventually realizes that the son can't escape either (who is a younger version of him) and then berates him for it and therefor himself for getting trapped here. maybe it's his fault he ended up here in the first place? or atleast that's what he thinks, which is why there are now three of him. the reason they're all so weird is because this guy has had problems since he was a child and therefor remains weird for the rest of his life. in the end this is a guy who has mental health problems trying to cope with the fact that he's been placed in this loop where he's meeting himself. the mom and dad agree to play different acts to so they can keep some semblance of sanity. It's called dying because that is what is happening to his mental health, as the mom shows, he is slipping down into insanity. this is what we see at the end when they all realize that there were no moves. this is just my theory though lol. really this is just what I like to interpret this as. I know he most probably didn't think of it in this kind of depth.

This could actually be fleshed out to be a pretty astounding psychological thriller about a grown man who at first, appears to be suffering from a Jack (Robin Williams) disorder. The audience is tricked into thinking he is a 9 year old boy trapped in an older man's body from the start. Then as the short film goes on, the fabric of what we perceive as reality begins to unwind. Simply by adding more scenes this could be even more of a masterpiece. Perhaps have a scene in the beginning where son and dad/mom are arguing and dad/mom stops mid argument, looks around shocked, and storms out the room. Then later when son is going through his different psychosis episodes, he realizes he actually is mom/dad, stops arguing, looks around shocked, and storms out the room in confusion. The scene where son has finally broken down mentally and is wandering the streets trying desperately to make sense of things, when the car drives by, that could be the same family car that drove by in an earlier established scene where the family was happy and civil, perhaps going to Mark's for dinner. An infinite loop of self aware psychotic deterioration that ultimately leads to his mind finally coming to realization that "The Moves" was the last thing Son remembered before an incident where his family was visiting Algeria as part of a European road trip. Dad driving faster, infuriated at Mom for accusing him of putting the moves on the woman in the hotel lobby. This obviously not being the case as we come to eventually find out that Dad is gay with Mark in a later scene. The argument heats up over time. Insults are cast back and forth from the front seat with Son cowering in the back. It boils down to a breaking point where Dad looks over to Mom and screams to her, "THERE WERE NO MOVES." just before the car loses control, colliding into a playground where a swing set splits the car in half.

I laughed until I cried, I cried until I wept, and I felt alive as if I had not yet truly lived. LA Turtle is resembling the theme of growing old through the progression of the main character, the son. As he learns the adolescent responsibilities of eventual development the question of his stability as an individual strengthens, yet only becomes a faint aspect of society. The connection between his hat symbolizes the same hat in _The Catcher in the Rye,_ by J.D. Salinger, both being depictions of youth and longevity. However, in Dying 2, the boy's hat is lost during his journey of discovering true passion in his own image instead of his parent's expectations.

I first saw this video on TimTheTatMan reacts and in that video Tim says "he's all alone, biblethump," I was dying. This is just so well done for an at-home budget film. Not to mention the Inception soundtrack makes it so much better.
