Both items could and have been used as a weapon. Anything can be allocated as a " weapon " the problem here is not weapons. when i lived there i stopped taking the subway...i took surface buses...they run everywhere the subway goes. most people don't know this. They also have express buses that go to manhattan from bay ridge bklyn, bronx, and queens for double fare but are much faster than the subway

Because disarmament isn't about safety, it's about control. NYC is the poster child for that. Bar lawful gun owners from carrying anywhere in the city. Criminals caught carrying guns get released immediately. They carry everywhere without impunity. They tell regular people to "call the police" if they're victimized by crooks. They demoralized and defunded the police. Many good cops are leaving and most new NYPD candidates are well-intentioned, but poor recruits who will receive poor training thanks to the politicians dictating the curriculum.
