I know the difference between right and wrong in my head. My dad was a Buffalo,NY cop from 1972 till 2002. I refuse to walk into any place here with metal detectors where i can't carry my weapons. That means sporting arena's, concerts, amusement parks. We need to redefine not all weapon owners are bad. Some may save lives. Until NY thinks that. They will always hate weapons and all the good they could do. If we leveled the playing field. We can't even keep weapons out of maximum security prisons. How are we going to keep them out of a free society.

This is the thing: what *can't* those things scan, and of what it picks up, how much of this becomes a total invasion of privacy over the right to security? When you pay your fare, you enter a contract to be provided with a safe and reliable ride (and that you'll also act according to the rules of the transit system). There's a very easy and affordable way to fix this: enforcing the law. But, these things are so shiny!!!! I mean, like, OMG!

The answer to poor policy and over stretched budgets is to spend more money on "solutions" that don't get at the root cause? Who is benefitting from this system? The poor they claim to care so much about? No, they are the ones most burdened by it as they rely on public transit.
