Dylan Mayoral Fair Play Dance Camp SHOWCASE 2018

This was definitely one of the most important moments of my life. I knew that after everything I experienced in all my years of existence I wanted to one day use my platform to share my experience and open up about something that I've battled with my whole life and still battle on a day to day basis. A few days leading up to the showcase day I felt like maybe I wasn't ready to do this performance, and then a friend of mine texted me saying she was going through some really hard times with her anxiety and anxiety/panic attacks. For me this was a sign, a sign that more awareness is always needed, people need help, people need guidance, people need love, people need support. I just know that when I was going through my worst times I searched endlessly and helplessly online to see if anyone else felt even remotely close to what I was feeling and experiencing, I just didn't want to feel alone. I know what it feels like to think 'I wonder if anyone else has it THIS BAD.' And I know some of you have this thought process too. Well guys, you're not alone, and I swear it will get better I promise you.. BUT you have to put in the WORK for sure. This performance is dedicated to anyone struggling in silence and on their path of healing, not just with mental health but with anything in their life hindering them from peace and happiness, And i'd also like to dedicate this to my parents.. because last year during my tough times it got so bad that my mum had to quit her job for 5 months and look after me at home. And my dad making so many sacrifices making sure that I was getting the best help possible.
Thank you to all the incredible people who spoke to me and shared their stories after my showcase, I really didn't know what to expect and the fact that so many of you came to me and expressed how connected you felt to my story and performance just goes to show that so many of us are having the same struggles.
One day i'll explain exactly what I've been through and how I managed to come out of the dark hole I was in, but for now i'd like my movement to do the talking.

This was so moving. I watched it twice to make sure that I got every little nuance of the performance like the color change, the tempo of the dance, etc. Afterwards I read the comments and then sent this video to everyone I know. Why everyone? Because there are so many people that seem totally fine but inside they're fighting a battle to just get up, to get dressed or even to just breathe. I am grateful that you used your performance to shed light on a topic we should all be aware of.
