To be fair his publicist can put certain topics on a black list so that interviewers can't ask about it. So it could be that Dylan left it up to interviewer discretion during promo for AA because he wanted to get used to talking about the accident (probably feeling he had to with TDC promo coming up). I have seen him tell interviewers he wont answer when they get too personal, so he knows his own red lines and will say when they are crossed.

@@annairwin696 The accident on the set of Maze Runner 3. They screwed up a stunt (poorly planned, faulty safety equipment) Dylan was dragged off a moving vehicle and dragged under the wheels of another which ran over him. He was left with brain trauma and needed reconstructive surgery on his face. It also left him suffering from PTSD.

I really enjoyed the interview. He was funny and sweet and polite. But then she asked him about the accident and he just started rumbling, then swallowed the lump in his throat. You can tell there is some PTSD in there. He looked like he was just flashing back to that accident. Talking about must make him relive that moment. I don't think there was really a lot of information given when it happened and I'm not sure if anything or anyone has really stated how serious it was. From this interview alone you can tell it was. If I had been the interviewer I would have stopped and changed the subject even though its a question that all interviewers want to get answers for they and most likely have to ask because someone above them already has pre selected topics that need to be covered in the interview. Have to give him props though most people would have walked away after that and his being in a very stunt filled action movie must have been difficult. The fact that he chose to tackle it head on and use it as a way to work through the trauma is inspiring really. And I hope that one day he'll be able to use this incident and how he got through it to help other people tackle theirs.

DYLAN Why is he so precious? We all love him and we all know how hard it is to go through painful memories. Personally, if I were here, I wouldn't have asked him about the accident, since she said it herself it has been asked many and many times. But, still, she was doing her job, and someone might have slipped the question in there. Even though Dylan had a hard time answering that, I can see that he's also trying to push through the memory and get better. Being and actor isn't easy, especially when something bad happens in a place where you work 24/7, it's like having the constant thought that you're not safe while you're working, because who knows what might happen, right? I love you, Dylan, thank you for being the most down to earth guy that we all know.

Sandra Schmidt I get what you mean, but when something is off limits to talk about, his people will tell the interviewers ahead of time to avoid those questions. So it doesn't seem like he has asked people to politely avoid the questions, meaning he's somewhat okay with talking about it to a degree.

he's talked about how he knew he had to face these questions at some point in his future, and I get why people wanna know. I just meant that it's been discussd so much by now, it makes me sad that he keeps on having to repeat it, and I feel like he's really grateful when it doesn't get mentioned so he can be more carefree and actually have a fun interview, after the countless times of having to hash that topic up again, is all I'm saying ya feel?

She was more of the respectable interviewers though. She didn’t want him to talk ABOUT the accident, but what came out of it (hence why she attempted to word it the right way) and then noticed he got uncomfortable, so stopped the interview/went onto another question. As someone who is going into journalism, it’s okay to ask a potentially sensitive topic, however, if the interviewee looks uncomfortable or is clearly having trouble answering, always want to move on and say “it’s not something you need to talk about” It sucks to do that because then you won’t have a fully completed story, but it is ethical. I rather have a comfortable interviewee than a completed story. Plus, with something as well known as an accident, a journalist could always do research to cover that if they choose to do so. But something like broadcast journalism, you can’t do that, so it’ll just have to be a missing part of the whole story.
