I have seen folds turn within tunnels, I have touched the silken sky as countless artists weave grace before my very eyes. Harmony of winds as if each breath of tiny life is reaching out to me. Wings of divine dunes dance in myriads of haze and I see wonders that hold me speechless. Each one spins a web as if controlled by natures built-in chip. I see grace and I know that I am nothing in comparison, for we are nothing because we dance alone, not so the Starling... unity is life and so wonderful it is.

In the US (NE Pennsylvania) I have seen this occur twice in my life. I am 60+. It is breathtaking and overwhelming to watch. I have not seen it occur again in over 15 years. I fear there are not enough birds for this to continue to occur in nature here. Absolutely heart breaking to think that may be true.

There is a large flock of chimney swifts that live in the old belfry on the 10th Street school in Wyoming PA. From my parents back deck at sunset, you can watch as they all return home circling the belfry before silently slipping inside for the night. Of course, the flock is not as large as this.

The music is fine and not obtrusive , but the american accent overdubbed spoils the original narration by the film maker Dylan Winter but at least he gets the credit for the filming , long before many others put murmuring on you tube.

Mr Winter raised some interesting questions about how the murmuration is guided. There has been a lot of recent research on the subject, including behavioral studies combined with computer simulations. We have reviewed some of this work in a book called Self-Organization in Biological Systems. press.princeton.edu/titles/7104.html

I see it every day almost here in King Salmon, Eureka, Ca., exit 700 on 101 north. I never knew what the sound was called and I have asked the same questions, who leads, what makes them able to NOT hit each other, I guess it is just an other Miracle of Nature.

THANKS, not to be hypercritical but I feel I have to. Dylan Winter's narration is needed but showing him only at the beginning would be enough and the "roaring noise" and "sound of wings" he mentions is never heard. Nature has its own distinctly beautiful sounds and I would have liked to have heard these instead of the teary eyed syrupy heart tugging background noise dubbed into the film. Is this about Dylan's film making abilities or is it about the starlings? I viewed it a second time without the sound and except for the disturbing breaks to Dylan found it marvelously fluid, graceful and truly eerie. YES stunning.

I used to see this all the time at dusk as a child on the Isle of Wight in England, I thought it had stopped happening as I have never seen it in Canada. Amazingly mysterious. Birds and animals are much more intelligent than many of us believe. They just have a different intelligence to us.

There are many flight paths that seem to join in the fall in Eastern Ontario just at the Quebec border. They come in lines and lines to join together to form and migrate south. I was thankful and amazed to witness this fall happening. I live in western Canada now.
