I was not expecting this at all but I was so excited for this!! I thought it was gonna happen last August but then nothing came out so I wasn't sure how long it would be!! I'm so in love with this so far!!! I need to read some more theories about what the imagery is and the lyrical meaning. I think it has to do with rising to the top from the bottom and being able to become the king despite kind of power he started out with (none) and the powers they were up against (the big three companies) but honestly. And V was maybe behind the pic of Bang PD and Jimin might have been beside him. Not positive but it looked like them. I'm so freaking proud of how he's grown (and the group as well of course!) But since his last album it just feels more self assured and self confident and stable. Like he doesn't feel threatened because he knows where he's at now. I love this video. It's flipping amazing!!! The sword dancing is actually so cool! The direct translation for Deachwita I found was a big blow. So I think it has something to do with this song being a big blow to egos because he's at the top. YES! I was waiting for your reaction! The way I see the ending is that it’s a battle between the person he could have become vs the person he always been. He’s killing that superiority complex that so many artists have once they get famous, and showing that he’s still the same person despite all the fame and success, he’s not letting all of that go to his head or change him as a person for the worse, but at the same time portraying himself as a king who has all the power, so he’s acknowledging his success and the power and impact he has whilst still staying humble and not letting the power and success become part of his shadow. People on twitter said that in Korean history if a man had a scar on his face then he couldn’t become king, so the fact that king Yoongi has a scar on his face shows just how powerful he is, as he became king even with a scar on his face. However an alternative interpretation could be that the king represents the big companies who have many flaws (scar) and yet they still have the power that they do and people still let them rule the industry, so to speak.
