I have always been a very defensive player on fifa. I'm enjoying this fifa again for the first time in years. It definitely suits a defensive/counter attacking player. Reminds me of fifa 12 in that sense

I'm surprised you remember fifa 12. By now through all the iterations it's all a blur. I just remember people around 15 we're doing so many skill moves it was ridiculous. People just randomly showing off skilling while you sit there and smoke a cigarette lol. My favorite memories in fifa were when you can put in a slower paced st but with awesome heading like a falcao or drogba and go for the win with that strategy. I liked it because with carefully times crosses you can win instead of hyper passing around the box which its now currently. Nothing more satisfying the falcao flying into the box with a smashing header

@@thrillhouse4784 yeah I'd agree. The constant skill moves is boring. It's not realistic in the slightest and still an issue with this version. Fifa 12, 13 and maybe 14... the graphics maybe weren't as good, but the gameplay was more realistic. As in, if you were the better player and played well.... you won. NOW it seems so scripted at times. At least we arent getting that pulled hamstring as you are clear on goal. Like we had a few years back

Contain is hugely different from other fifas. I played 18 and 13 before 22 and contain on x would do the job 99/100 times. I remember it was called pressing and worked like 22's contain. I was pretty dumbfounded by the change though

They said fifa 22 was slow. But it is too fast. I am losing match after match in the lowest division. I have no time to think or react the attackers are all over the place. I hope this helps.

I’m curious how the AI for my team defends as if I was I was playing against the CPU with the setting on Semi pro. Very loose, always a step behind and you can run by relatively easy. Regardless of who I play, the AI for them plays as if the AI was set to pro. You can’t outrun anyone ( you get by them and they catch you within a step or two, stop on a dime, if you have your back to them near the top of the goal box..the AI runs up and runs you over and takes the ball, if you happen to get shake the person the the defender above comes down and takes the ball. Anytime, two players come together their is a stumble animation that allows the other team to get ball. Again, this is regardless of the strategy that I have set..even if it’s on press…my AI defenders always play off the ball and allows my opponent to run right on by. It’s very annoying and doesn’t seem like a very fair set up. Any advice…from anyone appreciated. I just want a fair match

For me in school football it would be like 99 pace I’m the fastest there 60 shooting it’s not something I’m great at 80 passing I can pass usually accurately Around 70 dribbling nothing too special but I am working on it Defense would be like 70-80 I’m very good at defense And physical would be like 60-50 I’m able to do some stuff

Attacking is not that hard to learn for me. But defending is so hard.When i play AI I used to play in Legendary difficulty till Fifa 18. From 19 i struggle to have clean sheet even in Professional difficulties. 😖😭

Imho, they made a horrible gameplay in FIFA22, especially in defense. I played last night and the only way I could take the ball was by trying to anticipate my opponent's movement and then use the normal tackle button. If I missed that the player took ages to come back and do some jockey so my defender will keep chasing the attacker. Making jockey implies pressing 2 buttons at the same time...now I can barely have 2 or 3 matches and I'm done...when I was playing fifa 2019 or 2020 I was able to play at least 10-15 games in a row with 6 min each half...now is much more tiresome especially in defense...have to learn defending all the way from the 2007 version when I had no kind of these issues :(

The defense system in this game is a disaster. Unfortunately, this game focuses on increasing the speed and dribbling of some stars in order to sell more, and has taken this game out of its natural state. In fact, the defense is completely wrongly designed and there is no effective way.

When u off the ball counter press use 1 cpu dummy to blok pass, 1 guy is r1 off the ball press, and the third one is u who u are controlling. BAM! U are controlling 3 guys at once that surround the ball. Keep field wide n use short passage & 6 sec rule to use it effective. It'll force lo g ball and u hv time as it travels to cover cb shortly they can't control

Couple of things I'm struggling with and its been in previous fifa's a bit but seems so bad in this one is tackling and either the ball bouncing around falling straight to an opponent or winning the ball back and player taking such long/heavy touches that they lose the ball and so I'm taking a player out of position to read a pass or make a tackle and then losing the ball straight away and all of a sudden being really open because I moved a player out of position. and then the other thing is the lobbed through ball that is like only 10-15 yards but i have no idea how to defend it without playing complete drop back/parking the bus which I find such a boring way to play, any suggestions from anyone on these

There is a option to team press in game, you press the down button and then the left button, the direction buttons, and its only on for a limited time. So you don't have to pause the game

Another good tip is to watch your radar when your opponent has the ball in THEIR half. You can "spy" on them and maintain your formation or place players in space. Keep your eyes on the yellow cross. Don't even watch your players on the screen. That way you can organize your defense and anticipate where the ball is going. I switch back my eyes on the screen when the player makes it to my half. By that time I've even recovered the ball or frustrate my opponent into making a mistake. It really helps.

You are very right. I can actually play someone who is not so good completely with the radar, I got so familiarised with it when I was very young because winning eleven 8 and 9 was nice using it. With the radar I mostly organise my players, keep everyone in position to cut passing lanes and shot lanes. With that I can press on to collect the ball viciously, looking more like team press but i didn't activate that🇳🇬🎮

Thanks so much for this tutorial. I´m mainly a career mode player on PS4. I keep having the issue of the CDMs not fully tracking back and involving and just leting the opposition pass the ball freely just outside the box. I always try to control one of the CDMs but then the other one will stay kinda idle. Try to use 2nd man press on him but sometimes it will choose the CB and get him out of position. Don´t know if its just an old gen problem (saw some comments about not being that way on PS5) or if you got some tips about managing this. Thx again

i feel you. i have the same problem. if you don't pick CDMs, they do not do anything. if you pick them then CBs are in trouble. i guess one has to think ahead of the attacker, which i am still not able to do... this year i switched from pes to fifa, and the logic of defending is very different and i am struggling to get a hold of it.
