Majority of the time it stems from a lack of love from parents/guardians. Children find comfort in their toys, and if the issue isn't addressed then, the obsession will grow and cause issues in adult life. It can still be treated as an adult, but it's harder to overcome, and not everyone wants to overcome it (especially due to fear of abandonment again)
@TheJokesOnUs1 Жыл бұрын
yeah this is why children being in therapy needs to be normalized. parents are scared to put their children in therapy because they think it’s just to get them medicated, etc. (that was my moms excuse for all her children, and my friends parents, etc.) and some children, especially in this case, need therapeutic attention. but if his parents weren’t present then the only way he could get into therapy is as an adult and that’s where it gets confusing

I know there was an episode I watched where the lady was destroying her relationship with her kids bc of her addiction too. Just sad. It was actually quite nice to hear him acknowledge that a lot of these people have reasons for their addictions and honestly as long as you’re not hurting anyone it’s not that bad. We can’t understand what they’ve gone through or feel. Just that compassion and empathy isn’t something I see a lot in videos reacting to things like this so it’s nice :) Edit: “not hurting anyone” ALSO INCLUDES THEMSELVES AND THEIR OWN HEALTH
@livywithane3 жыл бұрын
I agree to an extent. Even if it's not hurting/or supposed to be hurting anyone, it can still be huting u. Ppl have addictions/conditions/ phobias for a reason and need to let out emotional or physical stress. Whether good or bad stress, u still need some kind of help. I can relate- not to this but in general as do most.😔
@HeyItsNovalee3 жыл бұрын
@@livywithane when I say not hurting anyone, yourself is also included in that “anyone.” An addiction becomes harmful when it’s negatively impacting your daily life to the extent that your quality of life is decreased or it’s actively stopping you from doing anything else. But people also need the desire to help themselves and if they don’t feel that their life is being interrupted by it they’re not likely to see anything that needs changing. So that’s why I say that if it’s really not hurting anyone, including yourself, like why would it really need changing? If you’re healthy, have a quality of life that satisfies you, and have all your needs met, then isn’t it fine? We might think they’re not fine, but again if they don’t want to help themselves there’s not much anyone else can do. So 🤷♀️ It’s just not our call to judge someone else’s quality of life
@YedidahMVO3 жыл бұрын
I agree to an extent as well, but I was going to say that if something like this seems so rational in your brain, it might lead you to doing other, perhaps more dangerous, things...I don't know a lot about this tho, it's just something I thought about.
@HeyItsNovalee3 жыл бұрын
@@YedidahMVO well sure they *might,* but it’s not even certain that they would. Of course if it spiralled into something that did then become unhealthy or harmful to someone or themselves, then of course they should get help for it. But it seems unnecessary to speculate whether they might spiral more just to justify saying that again, something that isn’t hurting anyone and brings someone joy, is unhealthy. Because like I said it’s not like it affects any of us anyway. I tend to think we’re too quick to cast judgement on people and ostracize or make fun of them just because they don’t conform to our standards of normalcy. And I’d really like it if people just stopped doing that and let people be who they wanna be you know? (Still keeping in mind that that’s only as long as it isn’t causing harm to anyone or yourself. If they spiral into something that does cause harm then obviously it’s not fine anymore)

Addictions are usually always bad. While they might not hurt others, they hurt the addict. Obsessing over something (and hoarding it in this case) is not good for your mental health, especially when they are being used to replace real human interaction. The internet and porn are good examples when taken too far. I hope the people on these get the help they need to lose these addictions.

“If you’ve ever been stabbed you’re a weirdo”. “The Killer Whales are probably like ‘kill me’” I could quote so many things you say, so hilarious. And the overly complex maths explanation of how to work out how long the guy has had boners for balloons for, was very funny. Also, I always like your editing where you cut to the next bit of video and the audio from the previous part continues and the opposite. I’m sure there’s a technical term for that, but I don’t know film terms. Thanks for the video, Dylan. 💚
