I feel you on this I was with my narcissist husband 27 years in August 2024 and he left me for another woman he met truck driving on Mother’s Day 2024 and moved in with her out of state. They already gained everything when they left. And if the song strikes a chord, it's likely a reminder of how happy they are now, rather than a longing to go back to "promises" of before. Sort of like when you find the perfect holiday destination that's worth going back to, and you tell your travelling companions "do you remember that roach-infested leaky dive we stayed in all those years ago? Now, THIS is what we should have booked, way back then!" I am going thru a tough time with my husband right now. We have officially been together for 5 years, but in reality 4. I left my husband in June of 2023. He just came back at the end of March. HE told me that he never gave me a chance in out marriage. When I left him he got with another girl. With whom he gave her the chance instead of me. That girl beat on him n his at the time 2 1/2 year old son. Like literally left black blue n purple bruises on his son. Plus his son had hand prints on his lil body. This came out 10 yrs too late... My ex had the nerve to tell my "Now Husband" that he was waiting for me to come crawling back to him... My now hubby replied with, "well then, you should know, I asked her out, she said yes!" A couple weeks later, my ex said "you ready to get rid of her, she is F*ing crazy!" To which he replied "in fact, I asked her to marry me, and she said yes!" My ex tried to turn my own son against my marriage with my husband. Several times. As a young kid, he believed that was the right thing to do.... But the first argument, hubby and I had 4 yrs later, he said she went back to him huh? To which my son replied, "No, no she didn't! She loves you, she doesn't want nobody but you! And even though I disagreed for a long time , I have to admit, she has never been happier then she is with you!"
