Thanks mate. Helped me understand the mechanics. I was having a problem with a block and you’ve helped resolve it.

No problem! To be honest even I get tripped up on constraints from time to time. They can be finicky.

great vid. i'm glad to know it's not just me. you seemed to attempt the same trial and error approach that I did.

Hmmm, interesting. I just never used parameters (like stretch, scale and such) with parametric constraints since they never seemed to play nice with each other. I see you doing both. Provided one is careful, it looks like one can mix them into a block... and I think there is potential there as you have shown... but, man, that looks like a potential headache. Good on you for playing with them in the same blocks!

Constraints overall can be a big headache because a lot of times they don't have the intended outcome unless you lock everything down correctly. Carefully used, you can create some pretty powerful dynamic blocks.

Thank you so much for your valuable video. That helps a lot. Could you please share the "guest drawing file" so that I can have more details and learn more about it. Thank you very much again!

thanks for your video, these tools totally suck though, so lazy of autodesk to just throw them in without any documentation and not working how you would expect, very few use cases where they have actually added productivity for me

nested parameters from another Dynamic block? Example, section of a 2X4 (dynamic-2x4, 2x6, etc), over a side view of a 2x4 (DY-2x4, 2x6, etc), over another section of 2x4.......having it with a stretch param from the middle downwards to form an overall view of a section of a floor truss......i tried it and 2 things so far is not happing correctly, the stretch, the 2x4 section being locked to bottom of the side view and being able to see the visibility of the 2x4 sections......im still working on it, your plate w/ holes block is nice

So I use AutoCAD light where I work and I have made a ton of custom Dynamic blocks but im running into an issue. We work with pallets at different depths, and because of this I want to make a block that I can past in my drawing, change the depth, and array it as far as I need it to. Here's my problem/goal though: I want to link an array parameter to a stretch parameter so that whatever I set the pallets depth to, 48" for example, the array parameter will instantly see that and match that depth. How would you go about this? P.S- If you need further clarification on what I am trying to explain, please let me know.

Any advice for creating a dynamic block with the option for 4 different angles as I drag the blocks up trying to create an item similar to sand flood bags, they can retain walls with the option of 85, 80, 70 and 45 degree. You're videos on array are really great just don't see many on arraying with angles. So far I've been able to create the 85 degree but as I get to 80 degree the bags overlap each other when they need to be flush, I think i may need to create 4 specific constraints. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I'm trying to visualize your block the best I can. From what I can tell you're trying to make retaining walls made out of sand bags at different angles. The main issue here is not the angle but the fact that as you change the angle, the array action distance changes and the array action distance is not inherently dynamic. It's fixed. The simple, less elegant, solution is to use visibility states for each angle and put a separate array in each one.

@@youcandraft Is there any way I can send you a photograph? alternatively I could make 4 different blocks for the time being until I get a better understanding into dynamic blocks. My 85 degree block works ok, however past 85 degree there is an overlap of the bags even though I've set a specific distance between. Thank you so much for replying! Really appreciate it
