Is there any function instead of lookup that would work to lookup this information, but would also allow someone to modify any of the entries? such as in your example for "Sam", is there a way to change 31,843 to say 20,000 on the right and then have that change reflected in the table? Thanks.

No, unfortunately. The data "flows" from the left table into the right table, so the right table is dependent on the left table as its source. Trying to link the left table to the right table, so data could "flow" back that way would create circular references and isn't therefore possible.
