Thank you for putting this out. Do you have any advice for doing this with future date ranges?

Hi! Thanks for checking this video out. I think studying how we did custom date filters in this video might help answer your question: onenumber.biz/blog-1/2024/1/24/custom-date-range-filter-for-selected-and-comparison-periods-in-tableau

Great video! How would I create a dynamic reference line where the user selects their chosen date range, and reference lines populate for the period before performance. Ex. User chooses a date range of April 11 - April 17, and the reference line is for data from April 4 - April 10? Thanks!

Hi Dave, Is the reference line a daily average? Or is it just overlaying the Current range (Apr 11-17) over the Prior range (Apr 4-10)? It sounds like a combination of things you'd need to do. 1. Create Parameters for Start and End Dates 2. Create Calculations to backtrack 1 week from start date and end date parameters 3. Create a calculation for "Current Values" 4. Create a Calculation for "Prior Values" 5. Write a FIXED statement to fix the prior values to the weekday. { FIXED DATEPART('weekday',[Date Field]): SUM([Prior Values])} Now you should be able to filter the worksheet on the current value range but still see the prior values on the sheet.

How did you zoom into the text?

If you hold down the CTRL key and scroll with the pinwheel of your mouse, you should be able to zoom in on a calculation.
