These videos + Helicopter Pilot Fundamentals Booklet are so helpful whilst studying for SIFT. Thank you Jacob!

One more cause - wind gusts while hovering close to the ground surface. We were banding geese in the Arctic when the helicopter got a wind gust and tilted the helicopter so that one float touched the surface of the river, causing a pivot point. Luckily the pilot survived but said usually dynamin rollover one way causes the rotors to break off with one of them going through the cockpit where the pilot sits. He was lucky - first day of the rest of his life.

My FI taught me the 2 step take off. Bring it slowly light on skids, then recenter cyclic. Great videos

Hi Jacob awesome work again. One question :- can you tell why in clockwise rotating helicopters there is more left slope limitation degree more than right slope limitation ?
@helicopterlessonsin10minut106 жыл бұрын
Ab797. This is due to Translating Tendency. For clockwise rotor systems (reverse is true for counterclockwise systems) that are landing on slopes using right cyclic, some cyclic input must be used to overcome the translating tendency. This results in reaching a cyclic stop sooner when landing to that side. For more info on Translating Tendency check out my video here (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKPCpWyAfNGDe9k). Thanks for the comment!

Should you simultaneously add opposite cyclic in addition to lowering the collective when you determine you may be approaching the critical angle?
@prafful_itape Жыл бұрын
Yes, opposite cyclic and opposite rudder while collective is fully down.
