Two things that you maybe want to cover also in this awesome series: 1) The automatic adjustment of the cost from the $10.5 from the order to the $10 in the value entries, having there two entries: the original with $525 and the adjustment of -$25 2) That you can reserve to a specific purchase and therefore use that cost and ignore FiFo (no idea how that works with other systems). From your example if you sell the first 50 pieces, if you use the reservation and reserve them to the second purchase (unit cost = $11), after the adjustment, the cost of that sale will be $550 instead of $500 as it should be from FiFo

Hello Johannes, Thank you very much for your invaluable contributions to the item costs-they are extremely helpful! I'm facing a challenging question and hope you can assist: Is there a way to adjust the actual selling amount of an existing item ledger entry to zero without altering the actual costs of the entry? The situation is as follows: We deliver an item and issue an invoice. Unfortunately, the customer will not pay, and the item is also lost. Now, we want to post the receivable from the debtor to a special balance sheet account and remove the actual sales amount on the item ledger entry without deleting the actual item costs. Our goal is to achieve accurate sales and margin reporting (with Power BI). Credit notes seem not to be the right approach, as they cancel the accounting receivable, making it unavailable for further postings. Moreover, they reset the entire item ledger entry and even post the item back to the warehouse. What, in your opinion, is the best approach?
