Thanks Scott, super informative! :) One part where I am unable to find on Dynamics is the Entities that is under the Components for the solution. Unsure exactly what to do, I have managed to bring the data from CRM into Azure, but the the tables are not really related to what I need to report on, does this have anything to do with the tracking? Is there some data repository that Dynamics reads from? Thank you.

Fantastic tutorial. This totally worked for me , only problem i have at the moment is when I use the connections tring with Active directory password it won't work. I performed the same steps as you and the username that i've added in the connection string have the right permissions. Any idea what you do need to do extra apart from your tutorial to use azure ad users connection string instead of sql connection string ?

Scott, brilliant video. Is it possible to export data out from from a CDS instance (not a D365 instance) using the Data Export Service?

The Data Export Service was only available for D365 instances last time I heard - I'll see if I can find out if it's available for a CDS PowerApps instance.

If I delete a field from CRM how do I remove it from the Azure db? I've dropped the column (plus system columns e.g. yominame etc) but get failure notifications in the export tool. What have I missed?

If I recall correctly you should not delete fields manually but let the export service manage the metadata sync otherwise you will see errors with the sync.

Hi, please could you help? Is there any way to connect this to a tenant not connected to the Dynamics (o365) I have an azure tenant and the customer has a dynamics sandbox that I have installed the plugin to. or if you know any other way to get the export to a sql database. it would be massively appreciated. thanks I have tried but get an error at the export side "Access denied to secret in key vault URL. Please provide get access to the Data export service Application."

HI Scott, When I'm trying to get Key Valut URL,I get following error: "Cannot find the Active Directory object '' in tenant '***********'. Please make sure that the user or application service principal you are authorizing is registered in the current subscription's Azure Active directory" Do you know ? thank you very much.

There are a few "hidden" entities that I can't find how to export with Data Export Services, such as StringMap, BusinessMap (bizmap), ListMember, CampaignItem, CampaignActivityItem, OpportunityClose. Any idea how to configure the data export profile and export them?

Hi Scott, When creating Data Export Profile in our UAT environment, we are encountering "Activation Failed" error. Do you know the possible reason why we are encountering this error? For lower environment, we were able to create, activate and sync without any issue. Regards, Lym

When I'm trying to connect the SQL database with SQL server management studio, I get following error: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON' I'm admin and the AD is connected to the Azure tenant. I'm loging in with "Active Directory - Universal with MFA support". Universal Authentication is not available.

Hi Scott, I am trying to use Sql server which is installed on Azure Virtual Machine for Data Export Service. The Key Valut validation throwing an error "We were unable to reach key valut endpoint url". The same is working with Azure Sql Server however for sql server which is installed on Virtual Machine it is throwing an error. We have followed steps to enable connect to sql server over the internet. Pls Assist

I have also debugged it using F12 Network properties which is explained by you. Error Code:1015 Message "Unable to connect to Destination mentioned in the KeyVault Url"

I believe that the Export Service only supports Azure SQL rather than a SQL server on a virtual machine.

Thanks for your reply As per MSDN it does support SQL Server on Virtual Machine. However we have followed all the steps to enable "Connect to SQL Server over the Internet" but still we are facing issue. Firewall settings. Allow access to Azure services should be turned on. More information: Microsoft Azure: Configure an Azure SQL Database server-level firewall rule using the Azure Portal For SQL Server on Azure VM, the “Connect to SQL Server over the Internet” option should be enabled. More information: Microsoft Azure: Connect to a SQL Server Virtual Machine on Azure (Classic Deployment) Any inputs would be helpful. Thanks
