Hi Swibo. Just wanted to thank you for your videos. You're a very careful and caring videographer and I'm really grateful for the efforts you put into getting the things you show into FOCUS... Very informative and professional. Definitely following you! Best, Tom in Switzerland

I do this a different way that seems to work about as good though. I bought a spice grinder at a yard sale, and use it to grind my split peas to a powder, then I grind granulated garlic the same way, add salt and pepper to taste, and store it in an airtight plastic container. I carry Bacon Bits in a separate container and just mix it together into a canteen cup, add water, and simmer for a little while. I do the same thing with dried beans for a bean and bacon soup as well.

Hi! Here in Germany you can buy Erbswurst in pretty much any grocery store and it is really useful outdoors. Greetings, Tim PS: Erbs Wurst = pea sausage , the first "s" is pronounced.

Wonderful experiment! Definitely original. Personally, I've had store bought Erbswurst and didn't care for it - not being a fan or split pea soup either. It's a great concept though and has earned it place as survival food. Now your bacon looked delicious and, as you know, everything is better with bacon. : )

Hi Jordan, I would like to know what is the name of the stainless steel water bottle that you have used in this video. Great videos by the way!!!

Cool experiment! I know the original Erbswurst of today (nowadays in a paper wrapper) very well, but it's totally boring. But I imagine that your DIY-Erbswurst must be very very tasty cause you worked so hard for it!

Nice video, if you can add some traditional Italian bread...man that will be a great meal. I did likeit the kitchen knife...very nice ergonomics. Believe it or not I own the same leatherman charge too.

@baronmaul My concern was that the fat and oil would cause the dried soup to go rancid over time. For a short term like a month or so it wouldn't be an issue.

@hellerZauberer It's a funny way of doing things but guys like us get a kick out of starting with the end result and then reverse engineering how to get there. It's a great skill to have IMO.

@dmgm1970 I plan on doing a few videos on curing and preserving meat in the near future and buck board bacon/ beef jerky ( same recipe and apparently highly addictive) will be included. Regarding the .22 I would love to do a video featuring it and a few other "survival" style .22's that I have..... oh man, this is going to be fun!

Chick pea flour (Chana flour) you can make a sort of thick mush (add some spice, herb, soup base, to water etc) and let it set, then fry it up and slap some inside some bannock method: 4 cups water flavoring 1 cup or more chana flour simmer and stir tell thick 10 to 15 min let cool and thicken then fry or ad to a stew/gravy

Italians call it farinata. You have to let the mixture sit at least six hours. ain't sure why but was warned not to eat it without letting it rest.

@steintanz Hi Tim, perhaps we could work out a trade for some erbSwurst one day? Thanks for the heads up on my missing "s", I'm sure that more people will notice that error but it's out there now so it is how it is :)
