5 was the first game me and my cousin played but this is the game that locked me in for life. I never knew this game got so much hate I remember it as a beautiful masterpiece. Seeing that intro just brought back so many memories damn what I would give for KOEI to remember where they came from. Excellent video bro you got a subscriber

6 is actually good. 1. Sprint 2. Sprint heavy attacks 3. Nice parry system 4. Dodge rolling 5. Graphics that still look better than 7,8 6. Modern horse Call system 7. Grappling attacks 8. Awesome music 9. Ai is still tough and not brain dead 10. Swimming, being able to jump off ledges with horses 11. Epic siege battles 12. Massive army's 13. The framerate was stable 14. The final battle in lu bu campaign is so fucking cool

Great points! It’s clear they really put a lot into this game. My opinion here, but the roster cut and certain clone sets takes the focus away from these great features you just listed. Idk why that is, but that’s what bothered me when it first game out. Now I’m experiencing these enhancements in a new light and it’s worth playing for sure.

Let me add other features that I really liked from dw6. 15. Morale system (beating 2 generals or every 100 kills boosts one of your allies +1 morale) 16. Ambush by dropping from high altitute 17. Bases 18. Ambush by fire attack inside a base 19. Slide trough cliffs 20. Using ballista and catapults 21. To elaborate more about "massive armies", each commander had a different unit size. Sounds irrelevant but I really liked seeing the size army on the menu. Guan Du it's to this day my favorite dw6 stage ever due to this. Just seeing how outnumbered was Cao Cao in this stage was so badass.

It took Dynasty Warriors 9 to make people realize Dynasty Warriors 6 wasn't that bad.

I'm thankful for Blockbuster. My cousins and I had a huge DW phase that started with 5XL. My favourite was Gan Ning, their favourite was Guan Ping. Once I rented 6, it was a sad time to hear and see both of those characters. Split screen also was rough in 6 too and sadly ended that phase for my cousins. I just waited for 7 after that

Blockbuster was awesome, I really enjoyed Gan Ning, but did not appreciate his DW6 adaptation. I felt they took away his pirate persona which made him so unique

DW6 got way too much unnecessary hate back in the day just because it was...different from the others😂In fact, it's mild better than DW9 👍Talking about graphic alone, DW6 is seriously the best ever no doubt ⭐

I loved the aesthetic of the game. But I hated the amount of clone characters in it. So many characters lost their iconic weapons just to be clones of one another. I swear five different characters across the roster shared the same move set.

@@rogaken this is a big issue that I didn’t discuss, and it does hinder the experience for sure. Clones are still evident in this game and it shows

I like the combat system in DW 6. Not only that, the enemies are also aggressive unlike DW 7 and DW 8 unless you play master or chaos. It also has cool musou/ult animations, great parry attacks, great graphics, rolling and especially grappling. I really like the grappling attack. It sucks that they remove it in next series 😔

i remember when i played 6 it was very jarring for sure but i just chalked that up to next gen leap and that Koei wanted to have a fresh new take for new hardware like other studios were doing at first i didn't like it and 6 Empires really turned me off as a teen not understanding that in actuality 6E had way more systems and mechanics than 5E did regardless if 5E was still a better package overall. As the years have gone by i appreciate 6 a lot more though to the point i will buy a copy again if i find it in a second hand shop. Also last weekend i went home to do laundry at my parents house and was playing the 360 versions on dynasty warriors gundam and it dawned on me that every game really did have shoe horned in online multiplayer i wonder now if the changing of times made a lot of franchises and devs made them feel forced to jump on the trends like personally DWG games shouldn't have had any multiplayer to them and that time and budget could've been put towards other things to make the game better or make content more fun

Nailed it. I still have my 360 as well, and some games just didn’t need multiplayer and the maintenance for the that just seems difficult to upkeep. I never really got into Gundam, but I plan on featuring them in a later video.

I love all the games, dw6 was so different at the time and I was really enjoying it and was more immersed when seeing the soldiers still on the floor after defeating them, some things through me off but overall I loved it, wish all the 360 dw and sw games would go backwards compat so I can enjoy them again.

Man Dynasty warriors 2 -6 were awesome. I can't stand 7, 8 is okay, 9 is a abomination besides having a playable Hua Xiong and Yuan Shu

I enjoyed those 2 getting added to the roster with a story mode. 2-6 were elite for sure. I’m starting to come around to 6 like I mentioned in the video lol

This may be off topic but here's what I hope to see in Dynasty Warriors 10 1. Shu family be the main focus 2. Have the story setting as a time skip 3. Bring back every Character (and perhaps add new ones) 4. No more Extreme Legends or Empires (because I'm sure they've burned out right about now) 5. Lastly, just make it good

A focused story and potential roster cut might be the best solution. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Shu😅As terrible as it sounds they need to focus on what matters instead of making a game full of fluff.

6 was actually the firsy warriors game I've ever owned. The first when I olayed was 5 Extreme Legends at my dad's house. Now 6 was a lot of fun. I loved the maps, character designs, music, art, the bases (i liked when you and the base captain we're fighting on the little arena and all the other NPCs would just crowd around and watch), etc. I was too young to even notice the combat changed so i didn't mind the renbu system. I will say, that mechanic sucks when you first start out but gets better when you upgrade. I guess that's the point. But the main thing i didn't like about the game was the amount of clones. So many characters lost their iconic weapons. I'm just gonna list the clones off memory. Diao Chan and Zhen Ji Sun Shang Xiang and Yue Ying Yuan Shao, Sun Quan, and Cao Pi Ma Chao, Zhang He, Sun Ce and Taishi Ci Xu Huang, Lu Meng, Guan Ping, Ling Tong, and Cao Ren

Yeah I didn’t mention clones but it honestly started here with KT. They followed suit with clones in many other games after 6, and it unfortunately hinders the experience. Overall still decent game depending on your musou preferences.

I still enjoy DW6, it’s a fun game now that it’s way older and there are newer better DW games to play. But I still do consider it along with DW9 to be the black sheep of the series. They cut characters, cloned weapons, cut lots of battles, only have a small portion of the roster stories, etc. Plus the combat system was a downgrade compared to the charge system. That is just way too much sacrifices for not enough positives that it introduced. Yes I do love the stories that were present, the visual style looked amazing, map designs were great, I liked swimming and climbing, the base system and duels were cool. But the overall core experience just wasn’t up to par.

Yeah for sure, some of the ideas were really great and executed well. But all in all it just caught alot of fans off guard. Still like you said worth revisiting today.

@@smileyday Yeah it still has its fun! I think DW9 will get a similar treatment. It will still be remembered as the black sheep of the series and will remain an unpopular entry, but once DW10 and beyond come out and hopefully address the problems of DW9, people will be more willing to look back at some of the positive aspects of DW9 with a more accepting perspective. Something about a bad or super flawed game being the current entry in a series makes people more inclined to be angry with it. I think it’s because of a combination of 1. not knowing if the bad decisions or poor implementation of whatever you don’t like about it will be permanently incorporated in the series and 2. Not being able to properly get your fix on the series. As someone who really didn’t enjoy DW9, it’s been close to a decade since we’ve had a good new DW game to play and the fact it’s been so long since we had good new content makes me more upset with DW9. Once I have good new content to play, I’ll be less mad at DW9.

@@smileyday I think you explained it well, they were hesitant after seeing the ps2 userbase didnt move on to next gen, love the documentary style though, i think its similar to samurai warriors releasing in the west on wii due to high playerbase, would love a video on that if you cover samurai warriors.
