Someone asked below, if this was perfect performance what would it score. I would say mid to high 80s easily, unfortunately the performance is THAT bad that it is damaging many of the systems that are there for fun. Ah, I love the Dynasty Warriors series, and would have picked this up if I hadn't watched your review. It's a massive shame it doesn't run properly. I'll have to get it for Series X or PC and get my portable Warriors kicks from Hyrule and Fire Emblem. Thanks for the important consumer advice and another great video.

Same. 3/4/5 and then Samurai (W) and Warriors Orochi series. PS2 and PS3 seemed the best time for this series.

Great video. I actually got notified for this one. I played through the demo (which took around 5 minutes) and I wasn’t sure how I felt about purchasing the full game on the Switch. Sounds like I should just get it elsewhere. Thanks for the review!

I've kinda always been in the middle with Dynasty Warriors games, I sort of like the insane nature of the battling, but always felt there could be more to it. This game I think looks like it has finally started to go in the right direction, bringing in different types of strategy and depth. So I am extremely thankful for this review, because I was more than likely to have jumped straight in with enthusiasm, only to be overwhelmed with negativity, which would stop me coming back to it or any in the future. Now I will keep an eye on it here and elsewhere, and when it looks better I will go in with a better mindset. Granted I would much prefer it to be on switch, but if it needs to be elsewhere I would go there for this. (Order of Preference, Switch, Playstation, PC, X Box)

The Empires series has been around for a while. Each numerical release eventually leads to an empires spin off with more strategy and complexity.

I remember playing Dnasty Warriors 2 back then. Didnt really stick with me. But then i played Dynasty Warriors 3 and discovered this one warrior, Sun Ce and his tonfas. Big fan ever since. Good times. Last Dynasty Warriors game i played was DW8. Didnt want to go near DW9. Kill it with fire i say. I wonder if DW9 empires will have Sun Ce and his tonfas. 🤔 Did a quick search. My Sun Ce is without his tonfas... Without his tonfas Sun Ce is just not the same to me. Sad. Major sad. 😥

To be honest I have it on the PS5 and the late rendering is an issue there as well. You can be in the process of killing mobs and get hit by an invisible officer. So it seems the same to me.

Thanks for the video, currently saving me almost $60. I'll give it some time, and hopefully they keep coming out with patches for it. If not, screw it lol. Don't really feel like waiting around for a PS5 to come out of thin air. Like as much as I hate the graphics, I feel like it's something I can deal with personally.

I adore the warriors style games, from way back as a child playing the first one that was a beat em up. So it really breaks my heart to see the Dynasty Warriors series take a nose dive these past few years. At least we have many other good ones picking up the mantle like Hyrule Warriors, One Piece and Fate/Extella

Since the old PSP/PSV days, Dynasty Warriors always has been a handheld game for me. That's how I discovered the series and the genre as a whole. So whilst I would love to give this one a try, I'd rather wait for a miracle patch, than get it on PC. I highly appreciate your honesty on this one and will definitely keep an eye out for the All Patched Up video, that is hopefully coming soon. ^-^

Ooph. I felt that Dynast Warriors Next was awful... I hated the weird dueling system that it had. But I love that it existed since it really made it possible to have these switch ports and the Hyrule/FireEmblem hybrids that have been amazing more possible.

While this is definitely not the version you should buy if you have other options, I personally will eventually purchase it for the collection. Good thing everything seems to be on the cartridge, though. 😉

I know NINTENDO isn’t know for having the best tech specs (and gems like the Witcher has been possible on it) it is really time to improve the hardware. Maybe not next gen but at least last gen. Nice review as alway, but not sure I’ll be going for this version of the game. I just loved the simple hack slash, run to another part of the map, butcher, jump on pony, gallop, hack slash on the way, you get it. They only thing that grabbed my attention about this game was GIANT BEARS!!! way to much fun! 😂

As a huge and I mean huge dynasty warriors fan (really a fan of the musou genre) this game and switch port could've been done so much better. Maybe with future updates, this can be a good game like dynasty warriors 9 ended up being.

Great review, if it wasn’t for this I would’ve gotten it on switch immediately. I will wait on a patch for SWITCH. if it doesn’t come soon (give a month or so) I’ll just pick it up for PlayStation. Dynasty Warriors such a childhood game, feels wrong not to get it. However, companies need to be held responsible for their products. Why not wait a couple months to do a switch version like some other console games have done AND have made their games run great for a switch.

You should probably just get dynasty warriors 8 on sale if you want a main series DW game on switch. Or try hyrule warriors games, fire emblem warriors, pirate warriors etc

Dynasty Warriors 8 is the best port for switch. I'll just stick with that. Any other warriors game has low fps and sluggish gameplay, it's a shame.

Not sure what Koei was thinking this is like the 3rd biggest mistake they made for Warriors games. They actually made Fire emblem/Hyrule Warriors for the 3DS and that had like 10fps lag This is obviously a cash grab game for the switch.

I picked this up despite watching this review beforehand, and I love it tbh. The graphical limitations aren't that bad at least in my experience. It does need improvement, but a 4/10 is a bit harsh. The game isn't broken.

Shame about the performance issues. I've never played a Dynasty Warriors game. Games like this are just so vast it can be daunting for me. I can do a 100 hour slog anything longer would have to be super addictive to rope me in.

I’ve been struck down with the dreaded Rona, and after your sales video I picked up Contra Rogue Corps, with the handful of points I had it was 80p. For that price, suddenly I can forgive a lot of the bad design and grindy bits of it, it’s kinda fun!

I loved Contra on the Switch and put between 60-80 hours into it. Once you figure out how leveling and upgrading work, plus figuring out which weapons are awesome the game clicks and I had a blast. Hint Hint...Get the Fist weapon and level that beast to the max. Equip nothing but cooldown upgrades for your weapon and enjoy the cheesy grin it puts on your face. One last thing, sell the crud you dont want. That's the fastest way to get money and people keep overlooking that.

I'm currently playing Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 on my Old 3ds XL and this game might as well feel like 60 fps compared to that. The game is amazing but the game struggles to run at 20 fps(with 30 fps target) and during a more intense moments the game drops to around 10 fps(or maybe even less, I haven't played at below 30 fps for long time since I'm a pc gamer so it's hard to tell). Characters in cutscenes look amazing though and the overall visuals are pretty decent. It's a shame because the first Chronicles(and probably 2nd but it's a JP exclusive and my Japanese isn't there yet) runs at a steady 30 fps and looks about the same in combat.

I got it for the switch, and I really try really hard to like it. I try coping think how inferior the vita dynasty warriors was. But seeing the comparison with ps4 or pc. I was like fuck it. Refunded the game, and bought the ps4 version instead. And lo and behold, the game look wonderful. Just buy the pc or ps4 version. The switch version aint worth the cost even for a hand held. And I really try hard to like it.

I only care about the combat system. I love the new combat system. It's so freeing. Creating your own combos is what I've been waiting for with this series. There is also so much more they can do with it in the future.

Popcorn at the ready, love warrior games, however..on switch they run like a bag of nails. Hyrule warriors was not a definitive version, botw warriors was even worse (except in handheld strangely) so I was not holding out for anything on switch with dynasty 9, shame, as they rock everywhere else. And also...omg dlc...its shocking amounts of extras.

My Sun Ce is without his tonfas! I refuse to play this game on any platform. Give my Sun Ce his tonfas back yo! This and DW 6 Sun Ce's both have no tonfas. This is a bad 69! 😅😂
