People get so obsessed with chasing absurd HP/Torque numbers. Your car would DESTROY a lot out there with twice as much "power" to the wheels. This just goes to show how important gearing, curb weight, 60ft, traction, and driving are! This is so cool!

putting a very similar heads cam intake combo on a 351w in my 80's LTD. great inspiration right here!!

I haven’t been messing around with 5.0s in 20 years so has something changed, combos like this were lucky to make 300rwhp…@ 350rwhp that is mighty impressive!

I think well sorted combos have been making these numbers since the 90’s. The new heads and cam I just put on should make some really good power.

Nice numbers from that combo. Regular tfs tw unported gain about 30rwhp and 10 to 15rwtq on that combo.

@@mikeymac9 That thing is going to smoke. Everyone is going tight lsa for the N/A cars, more torque and power across the curve and that lope we love. Ed Curtis and Brian Tooley are two good people to consult with for the cam.

@@mikeymac9 I was little pissed about the Coyote 5.0 smoking us so good on torque and power on a streetable engine, Lykins did an engine that matches that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmKwoot6gaqFftk . A gen3 coyote with exhaust, intake and tune makes like 410rwtq and 480rwhp or so. With E85, they get 420-430rwtq and a little over 500rwhp. The gen3 heads flow 320cfm@.5", the gen2's flowed 280cfm@.5". gen3, cr is 12;1, gen2 cr was 11:1. The camshaft is under 210 duration @ .50" but DOHC heads flow better from .1-.4" or so, so it makes it act like it has a bigger camshaft.

Thanks man. I had tail pipes all the way out under the bumper at one point but wanted to lose some weight to help get in the 11’s and went with the aluminum mufflers. Saved 50 pounds. Cougars are awesome. Good luck!

Did you have to notch/fly cut the pistons? What year short block?
@mikeymac92 жыл бұрын
I didn’t. I had .010” on intake and .017” on exhaust. I’m guessing its a mid-90’s explorer short block based on the plastic lifter hold downs. Bought the long block used on Craigslist for $300 11 years ago lol

@@jeffpeterson1957 Yeah sorry move the decimal point over lol. 0.10 on intake and 0.173 on exhaust. Intake was close and plenty on exhaust. It’s seen lots of rpm and no issue yet. PAC Valve springs from Ed Curtis at FTI.

@mikeymac92 жыл бұрын
I don’t have an apples to apples dyno test of just the cam. It made 318 with the TFS1 cam before I ported the heads. I do have good track data of just the cam swap. 12.10 @ 112 with the TFS1 and so far 11.91 @ 113 with the F303+. More tuning and seat time I think it has an 11.7x in it.
