I'm a bit puzzled by the tuned length you quoted on your pipe dimensions, everything I've read calculates the tuned length to the mid point of the rear cone ( if it came to a point at the end ) not to the stinger entry. On multi stage cones I calculated the length as if it were a single cone the same total length from the large diameter to the small diameter. Anyhow yoy should gain a fair bit of power with more compression, I ran air cooled RD250s around 12.8:1 with 20 thou squish, 250 LCs around 13.6:1 due to the better cooling, again 20 thou squish, The air cooled cyls and heads were also bead blasted and the fins drilled to increase cooling

The TL to the mid point of the baffle I've only ever seen in Gordon Jennings's book, The Twostroke Tuners Handbook. Not sure where the piston face to stinger way came from, I'm guessing possibly Gordon Blair at it's used in his books and a lot of the SAE papers he and his colleagues did. Noted on the comp ratio. After podging a hole in the inlet floor it's next on the list :)

Forgot to add, the 250s are 54 ,X 54 bore/stroke and were revving to 11000, no problems with piston/head contact or detonation. Ignition was 1.9 btdc

Cheers. I was thinking about 11k for peak. I'll need the revs for the power if I can keep it breathing till then. A new pipe is on the list that's quite a bit shorter than the BDK

Will the original AR50 fuel tap flow enough fuel? It may be worth fitting a larger tap and float valve, especially if you're going to dabble with methanol or nitro fules.

Hi mate, pass. I'm sure it will be somewhere the limit. I'll bear it in mind - cheers for the tip.

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying. I'm not really a wiring expert so probably not the best person to do a tutorial on wiring.

Curious about your port timings and pipe length from header to stinger? It's possible they could be timed a little better to create better peak horsepower. Does engmod2t have a program for various pipes?

Hi, Specs are here: Carb - Dellorto phbp 21mm #85 main jet. Reeds - standard that came with the bike. Pipe - BDK Cylinder - Tuned Autisa 93cc (54.5mm bore) Ignition curve - BDK - bdkraceeng.co.uk/tc/products.php?197&cPath=6_67_19 Comp Ratio - geometric: 11:1 and Trapped: 5.92:1 Squish gap - .8 mm Port Timing - Exh: 196.7 deg duration Tx A: 139.3 Tx B: 137.7 Boost: 135.9 Pipe TL is 921.5mm (piston face to stinger. I'll try to pit a pic up on my community tab. Edit - Pic added

What percent of the pipe is the header? Very interesting transfer timings, I am not familiar with your application at all, but we have always found 130° to be ideal for what we do. (A lot of help I know) 😂 Rpm=mph. Keep it up!
@AutoBeta2T2 жыл бұрын
Hi - I put a pic of the pipes dimensions up on my community tab but the header %TL is 32.5%. Yes the transfers are too high. It'll be getting sorted in an upcoming episode ☺️ Cheers.

Is there any advantage of having carb along with reed valve
@AutoBeta2T6 ай бұрын
Hi, I'm not sure tbh. Disk valves, in theory, are better for max power as they offer no resistance when open but have fixed timing. Reed valves allow variable timing that's dictated by the engine itself.

How much power do you reckon you need for 100mph?

Hi Trevor, yes I need to get some more sprockets. Was waiting to see where the power was going to peak before figuring the final gearing out. Want to go 415 Tom hopefully save a bit of friction.

What gear are you running. I used 15 or 16 37. I used to run irc nr21 tires 26f 28r. I give the 125 lads a run for the money in the corners.

Im watching your videos !!!!! ,, 9 more BHP to go ,, just make sure you have the gearing right for the run when you do it
@AutoBeta2T2 жыл бұрын
Yep... Not too many to go 😬 Yes, gearing will be key. Wanted to figure out the peak rpm and gear from there... I'll loose some hp dynoing with taller gearing so probably another few as well.
